Re: Where is your man-hole (person hole)? 63May 22, 2009 8:56 pm I lived in a crappy neighbourhood and my rental had a security screen frame over the manhole. You could unscrew it from inside the house. You probably could kick it in if you jumped hard enough on it from inside the roof cavity, but then you might fall through and break both legs (with any luck!). It did make me feel safer (living on my own) but looked kinda ugly! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Where is your man-hole (person hole)? 64May 22, 2009 10:50 pm Mine is in the laundry.....it took me ages to figure out what MH on the plans meant. Good advice, never start looking at your plans after 11pm and drinking Re: Where is your man-hole (person hole)? 65May 23, 2009 12:35 am fairy blue Hey Helyn, I bet you had no idea a manhole poll would go to three pages! Make that 4 and counting kek Perhaps the person-hole could be located in a secret passage....? Oh there is lots to say about man holes Especially when they are secret passages Re: Where is your man-hole (person hole)? 66May 24, 2009 10:03 am I have actually two one in the garage which was a surprise when I had a chat with the carpenter on site the other day and the one in the laundry. My garage is detached from the house. My garage is detached from the house. Ooh, a secret garage loft! (we might need to merge the "secret passage" and "manhole" threads soon!) My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Where is your man-hole (person hole)? 68May 27, 2009 10:49 am After reading this I asked my builder to relocate my MH from the hallway to the garage. I was told I couldn't do it because thats where the aircon and heating will be. So I've asked to get another one put into the garage, as I would like to eventually put a pull down ladder there so I can have some storage up there. (our says Man Hole by the way) not unless you wanted a trapdoor in the second storey floor! Ooh ooh! A secret room on the second storey with a secret booby-trapped trapdoor so if anyone managed find out how to get in there they would walk in and promptly fall out the bottom into... the toilet! Take that, intruder! Now, to hide the outline of the trapdoor in the toilet ceiling... if it was a large trapdoor it could be the whole toilet ceiling! Okay Annie, time to stop and go get a life... The second my husband installed in the alcove where our laundry, master bed and powder room run off. We also have lighting in our roof space! Ah ha!!!! I found it... it was on the electrical layout plan with a little m/h Ours is at the back of the garage in the corner, which is great for us. I really wouldn't have liked it in the house - my reason being that I have a husband with big greasy muddy feet on most occasions I love the idea of a ladder too, for storage.
