Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 07, 2009 5:03 pm Hi Guys, New to forum but have read posts regularily in the past. My problem is this. Building in Perth with Celebration Homes. Alfresco area has just been completed and on viewing it the ceiling seems incredibly low. I counted it out and it is at 25c. Is this normal/legal?? It appears is incredibly low and the supervisor says it is standard and nothing can be done about it. Have other people had similar experiences/problems. I can touch the bloody roof from -1.5c (standing on the sand and im only about 175cm). It looks cheap and nasty, is there anything I can do?? DSB Re: Alfresco Area Ceiling Height 2May 07, 2009 5:40 pm I'm sorry, i have no idea what the standard is.. but what does it say in your contract the height should be? Re: Alfresco Area Ceiling Height 3May 07, 2009 5:48 pm The side elevation clearly shows it as 25c. Im not disputing that with them, its just that it is too low. Apparently all their display homes have their alresco areas at 25 as well but il have to wait till Saturday to have a look. Soooo.... Granted they have complyed with the contract, but where to from here? If the ceiling cant go up, the floor needs to go down I guess, 100% certain that somthing needs to happen, its just too low. Any experiences? Re: Alfresco Area Ceiling Height 4May 07, 2009 6:02 pm Unfortunately if they are going per the contract that you signed, it doesn't leave you much room to move. Perhaps you could ask the builder to leave the alfresco roof off and do something after the handover, but legally they wouldn't be required to reimburse you I don't think.. So you'll either have to live with the lower roof.. Or leave it off and do something after which will cost you extra $$$ Unless anyone else here has some other suggestions?
