Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 07, 2009 12:25 am Just wanted to know what colours are popular!! we have prestart coming up and cant decide. I like the beige colours, sandbank/jasper, whilst HB likes grey tones, bushland and windspray. we are getting a cedar look garage door. Its hard finding time to look at displays, but if i can get a general opinion, thanks lisa Building the Pegasus New Generation Bletchley Pk, Southern River Land purchased 03/2009 Contract 06/2009 Prestart 09/2009 Land cleared/sand Pad 10-12-09 Fittings done 17-12-09 SLAB!! 18-12-09 Brickies started 27-1-10 Roof Started 2-3-10 Lock Up 13-5-10 Re: What color colorbond roof? 3May 07, 2009 11:35 am Various greys are the most popular here but ours is Manor Red. As with everything, dont go with what colours are popular - these will change over time - go for something you like and will continue to like even if it falls out of popularity Re: What color colorbond roof? 4May 08, 2009 9:28 am Hi Lisa, if i was building again i would go with either the colours Loft or Jasper. I only had a zincalume roof on my last house for cost cutting reasons but i would have preferred Jasper as we had a Jasper garage door. In saying that i would most likely choose Loft now as i have already had Jasper, and incorporate some Jasper elsewhere. Hope this helps Kim Re: What color colorbond roof? 7May 08, 2009 5:24 pm borg how about working out what bricks you want first. I agree, what colour are your bricks/render? Different colours will suit different bricks... and have you decided on window colours, garage door, downpipes etc? we went for woodland grey, with a reddish brick. I like creamy/beige type render, HB wants grey, we are going for a cedar look garage door. Im hoping theres a colorbond place in perth we can go and see bigger displays, rather than the booklet/computer! We ended up going with Midland Brick variety. And we chose Dune for the roof, to me it looks pretty similar to zincalume anwyay (compare it to the zincalume tank for example - it really depends on the light I think) We kind of figured we'd go for light bricks and a lightish roof. http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp253/mtbpebble/IMG_0733.jpg Re: What color colorbond roof? 14May 10, 2009 12:51 am Helyn Various greys are the most popular here but ours is Manor Red. What's your plan with your wall? I think it will help you to decide on what color of your roof will be. Re: What color colorbond roof? 15May 11, 2009 12:51 am ladsos We think we are going for Austral bricks, "Telfer" so cream. Im hoping theres a colorbond place in perth we can go and see bigger displays, rather than the booklet/computer! Go to the BGC display centre on Vulcan Rd in Canning Vale (just off Willeri Drive). I took my brick sample in and used all their Colorbond samples (about A4 size) to play around with. I just sat at a table and took the samples off the wall and took photos of different options. They were very helpful with window frames and shower screen frames too (Affinity Range) and will give you real metal window frame samples. I matched the window frames with my brick and Colorbond samples, along with a paint colour card for the render feature wall I want, so I could see how the whole thing would look together. Also they have samples of glass (eg. spotswood - commonly used as obscure glass in toilet / bathroom windows) and Blokpave pavers, along with Harmony roof tiles. Then I asked about getting big colorbond samples and they sent me down the road to BGC Steel factory and I got them to give me some offcuts of what I had decided on. I had to wait till the next day (and they said they didn't usually do samples but I asked really nicely!) but now I have real samples of everything I need to bore everyone else with my selections - brick, gutters, roof, feature wall paint (I got sample pots) and window frames! I've done a lot of drivebys in new suburbs and all I can say is: be very careful of Colorbond "Sandbank". It's very yellow and so you need to be really careful of the colours you put with it. Most of the houses I've seen with Sandbank roofs look a bit strange because the other colours don't quite match it. I liked Sandbank until I saw all these houses and didn't want to stuff it up, so went with Paperbark, with Jasper gutters / fascia, which is more neutral. I have cream bricks too - Midland Brick's Whitecliffe (which is new, and I asked specially to get it as a standard as it was the same price but not in my builder's standard range yet - they let me! Yay!). If you go with Sandbank, you'll have a very unique house (hardly anyone seems to use it in Perth from what I've seen) but be careful. If I see a nice Sandbank / cream brick house in my travels I'll take a photo, but I haven't seen any yet! There must be some people out there with awesome colour sense and a liking of Sandbank! I like, Jasper, paperbark, bushland and dune, decisions decisions!! Do you know if you can get separate colour gutters to fascia. or are they attached? Do you know if you can get separate colour gutters to fascia. or are they attached? You definitely can go different colours but they are not usually standard (ie. costs more). Also, my builder doesn't do colorbond gutters / fascia as standard. They are zincalume and they paint them in colours that match the exact colorbond colours. Jasper and paperbark is what I'm going with, with a dark olive-y green feature wall (Taubman's Sinbad Olive). I have Whitecliffe (limestoney) bricks. I decided dune was a bit too grey for my particular 'natural' look. Will post some colours up when I get my act together! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: What color colorbond roof? 18May 12, 2009 12:43 am Sorry, the gutters / fascia can be different to your roof at no extra cost, but it costs to get the gutters in a different colour to your fascia. Does that make sense? My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: What color colorbond roof? 19May 12, 2009 11:35 am yeah i think my builder said if i want split colours, it will be the zinc stuff painted, so that wouldnt last as long and it would cost more, so i think gutters and fascia will be the same in colorbond. ok ill let you know what we decide. Kymba I would probably definitely consider contrasting out garage door (e.g. light ash would look great) and make downpipes and fascia same colour as your walls, not as your… 1 3551 Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10105 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 17583 |
