Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 05, 2009 4:50 pm Hi! We moved into a new place and have an outdoor washing machine and sink. They are located under the carport which is behind the garage. It is basically under cover but if the rain gets very windy it could wet the washing machine. I was thinking of getting a cabinet built but I'm afraid if the washing machine vibrates alot the cabinet will fall apart! Are there cabinets out there for outdoor washing machines? If not where can I get one custom made reliably so that it suits a washing machine (not trap moisture, withstand vibration, withstand moisture). Re: Outdoor washing machine - need advice! 2May 05, 2009 5:33 pm I think you'll find that installing your washing machine in what's effectively an outdoor area will void your warranty (assuming the machine is still under warranty). Isn't there anywhere indoors that you can fit a cupboard for a washer/dryer? Isn't there anywhere indoors that you can fit a cupboard for a washer/dryer? Unfortunately not >.<! The house was renovated with the intention of having an outdoor laundry. It suits the design of the house and suits us in terms of functionality. The machine is out of warranty (its an older model we are bringing with us). But yeah just trying to think of ways to protect the washing machine in a functional and somewhat fashionable way! This way they will block most of the wind and rain. They can be very stylish. Or if price is a problem maybe go with lattice, but doesnt look the best and they have quite big holes. I think privacy screens are the best way to go, because even if you place a cupboard to protect the washing machine the cupboard will still get wet. Re: Outdoor washing machine - need advice! 8May 05, 2009 9:12 pm It would help to have some pics of the area, but maybe something similar to this? http://www.aussiegardensheds.com.au/garden-sheds-online/space-saver-sheds/ Re: Outdoor washing machine - need advice! 9May 05, 2009 9:16 pm Or maybe something like this, although its quite a bit more expensive: http://www.buyashed.com.au/belgrave24mx ... p-332.html Re: Outdoor washing machine - need advice! 10May 06, 2009 5:56 pm ozkarnak Have you seen the other post with the PVC coating on sale on ebay ?. Alternatively we might move them around the corner and put up some outdoor privacy screens! This might go well with our plan to use a foldable or retractable clothesline.
