After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Re: National Builders Group 23Sep 09, 2009 7:18 pm Hi - the builder was Wade Kimler of Kimler Homes. We have been in the house for 19 weeks and he still hasn't done the stackstone on the front facade - nor has he had the kitchen splashback tiling done (cooker and sink) As he never gave us an official handover document, he has included the "omissions" as faults and says that he has 6 months to sort them out - another 5 weeks!!! I wish that NBG would give my name as a refernce to prospective builders - they would be put off immediately. I still cannot get my mind around the hand basin issue - they fitted cheap alternate basins and justify their position by saying that they can, in terms of the contract, change "suppliers".....what they actually mean is that they can change brands....when it suits them of course. One day, when I have pleanty of spare time, I'll write the MD Barry "impossible to get hold of " Suckling a letter. Good luck!!! Re: National Builders Group 25Sep 10, 2009 10:31 am Oh brian that is simply awful! Did you get a building inspector in for PCI? If yes what did his report state. Also i know it must have bee awful to wait 303 days for your house to be completed but after waiting so long, can you please share with us why you accepted the handover of the house with so many things left unfinished and a myriad of faults to boot? Re: National Builders Group 26Sep 11, 2009 3:11 pm goondog Hi, I am currently in the process of finalising contracts with NBG and wanted to know if anyone could answer me a few questions. As I am building my first home I do not want my budget to blow out and have heard a few stories about extra costs after you signed your contracts. 1. What were some additional charges after the contracts were finalised? 2. Did you have to upgrade a lot of things? 3. The builder I have been assigned is Creative Homes, has anyone heard of these or been assigned them? 4. I have also heard that with the 'Build Now Pay Later' scheme that a few people have been hit up with full amounts immediately after their contracts were signed if they weren't getting a house and land package. Anyone know if this is true? 4. Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. Hi Goondog When you say Creative Homes - do you mean Creative Mode Homes? Cheers, Re: National Builders Group 27Sep 11, 2009 5:03 pm Hey leebee, Since this post I have been assigned a new builder, which I am happy about as quite a lot of people have recommended them and said they are great. Your best course of action would be to lodge a complaint with the Building Services Authority. How long is the contract build time? It's all in the planning Re: National Builders Group 31Nov 12, 2009 9:44 am Apart from the delays, we had a pretty good experience with NBG. We love our home and all defects listed in the building inspector's report were promptly rectified. Even the issues we discovered after handover were all completed within the stipulated 21 days. The last item which was the larger heating vent needed for the master bedroom was done yesterday. So we have been pleased with our builder & NBG.
