Just had our new Jarrah (I know lots of maintenance) - 5 leaf bifold doors installed. They are being varnished with a clear varnish tomorrow - no stain. As they are an exterior door what would be better - gloss or satin finish? How many coats - and is it ABSOLUTELY necessary to use a marine grade varnish? (The painter said that it was all hype - and made me feel ridiculous for asking). Any ideas?
