Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 24, 2009 4:28 pm We have a corner lot and therefore have to satisfy the estate's guidelines. They say that the meterbox can be near the corner but it has to blend in with the brickwork. Does anyone know if the meter box (at least the cover) can be painted? Are there regulations stating that they can not be painted? Re: Meter box - can they be painted? 2Apr 24, 2009 4:36 pm Hi reaver I live in W.A. My builder painted my meter boxes (gas and electric) cream to match my brickwork. Re: Meter box - can they be painted? 3Apr 24, 2009 4:36 pm Yes, they can be painted - most builders paint them as a standard thing, you choose your colour. I'm sure you can find a colour to closely match most bricks. Re: Meter box - can they be painted? 4Apr 24, 2009 5:00 pm Yep ours was painted woodland grey. Shame it wasn't actually put on the house though! We now have a new one in a paperbarky colour and it will be painted in the next week or two. If it is an old switchboard with old wiring in it ( the cables will have a lower temperature rating) you would be advised wisely to get an electrician to have a look at it, thats always going to be better. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck.
