Average build times by state

Hi Everyone

I thought it would be good to get an idea of how long houses are taking to build around the country.

If you have built or are building let us know!

Remember to say the state and whether double or single storey!

So far-
For plans to be approved by Council - 13 weeks
From Council approval to Slab - 4 weeks

signed Contracts in May 2005 and STILL waiting to get into our house.

Construction started March 2006.

We had an old house which we demolished

Construction started in August 2006 and we are about 6-8 weeks away now.

First council approval (planning) took ~5 months the second lot (development approval) took around 6 weeks.

Purchased our land in December 2004 :shock:

Adelaide, SA.

Double storey in Brisbane.
plans with private certifier - 8 weeks
construction started in June'06 and finished with the handover 16th November'06

one storey house normally takes ca. 3 months.

However, the builder has always 100days to complete the dwelling plus all the rainy days, plus weekends etc...

Double story in Melbourne.

Council approval took around 2 weeks (or maybe slightly less).

Land was cleared in Nov 06.

Handover is next week.
