Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 11, 2009 11:13 pm I've been looking at the Porter Davis site and their homes are wonderful! My question is, who designs the interiors and where do you purchase some of the items? They are so beautifully appointed and has given me heaps of ideas! Probably wouldn't be able to afford any of them but did notice a Barcelona chair...I LOVE THAT CHAIR!! I think it's Houpton Interiors??? A thankful person is a happy person. It's Coco Republic who does the interior decorating. They're a little pricey.... http://www.cocorepublic.com.au/cr/ All the ex-display furniture and decorator items get sold through Suite Deals here in Melbourne. They handle that stuff for a number of builders. Some of it's seriously cheap, some not so much. What's available varies widely too - I imagine the good stuff goes pretty quickly. Anyway, Coco Republic do nice work. Re: Porter Davis interiors...who designs them?? 4Apr 12, 2009 8:09 am Although not near any PD homes, I did have a look at their website and can definitely see what the attraction is with these guys. If I walked into one of those homes I would be signing on the dotted line there and then they are beautifully presented and it doesn't hurt to help sell a place. Just like selling a house of our own, if it's furnished beautifully it sells easier I think. Do we have a Coco Republic in NSW anyone, I would like a look if there is, just for fun. I agree that the interiors are a huge selling point. I'd expect nothing less from a builder who was serious about their business. I've walked into some display homes and straight out again, because they were poorly presented. I have no idea if the floor plan was any good, or the quality of the construction - if they can't be bothered making an effort to present their product well, then I have reservations about a) their cash flow and b) the way they run their business, and I'm unlikely to deal with them. Same goes for any business, really. Who wants to hire a hairdresser with uncombed hair? Or a personal trainer with a muffin top? *ahem* Time to get on my bike.... I agree totally! I remember walking into an NBG display in Epping and I pretty much walked through and then straight back out again - just shocking! I remember when i first started looking at displays I walked into some displays and walked straight back out. From memory it was AVJ. Some of them were shocking rofl Re: Porter Davis interiors...who designs them?? 9Apr 12, 2009 5:07 pm I agree, PD leaves 'em for dust with their display homes, they oviously spend heaps on staging, but I think it pays off because they are clearly a very popular builder, surely the quality of their display homes appearance has something to do with that (or you'd think they would stop spending those kinda $$$ on their displays). But I also think Henleys are good. Mind you, I wonder how much it affects their bottom line spending all that dough on their displays... maybe it is sufficiently absorbed because of the higher sales they get... good on em! Blardy good job I am not a personal trainer then I agree that a beautifully decorated house does inspire someone to buy. You brought the display home off them? Re: Porter Davis interiors...who designs them?? 15Apr 13, 2009 2:10 pm There are a number of builders who do a great job when it comes to presentation. I thought that H3nl3y's displays were really well done, and so were the other big guys. They all have different styles though, so I guess the appeal of one over the other comes down to your personal taste. Hopefully, most buyers are smart enough to see past the cosmetic stuff when making decisions - but the same goes for buying an existing home. I know I pulled out every trick I could to make our little home seem welcoming and cosy when selling in the middle of Melbourne's cold, gloomy winter. Re: Porter Davis interiors...who designs them?? 16Apr 13, 2009 5:40 pm Coco Republic do Prestige. Lifestyle and Access use a different company, the name eludes me at the moment. PD also have a team of dedicated interior decoraters that work only for PD and organise the interiors and style them (they don't work at Hopetoun). Re: Porter Davis interiors...who designs them?? 17Apr 13, 2009 6:55 pm I love the interiors of PD homes specially the Marina 42 (African Safari style ) i would LOVE my house to look like that John, Tarin and the Kids Built and moving in to the Regent Grande with Masterton homes http://thebrownsaremovingtothecountry.blogspot.com Re: Porter Davis interiors...who designs them?? 18Apr 13, 2009 6:59 pm The African Safari is one of my favourites as well! Interesting that not all of them are Coco Republic Rellie. I always thought that M3tricon and PD were the best presented out of the volume builders. But the most recent M3tricon displays have been a little disappointing overall to be honest. But some of the PD ones are shockers as well!
