Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 11, 2009 2:43 pm My builder has told me that hand over is expected mid May. Please share your experience on this important and exicting day: 1. What shall we prepare before the HO day? 2. How shall we behave? 3. What need to be asked? 4. What documents we need to ask from the builder? 5. Do we need to arrange house & content insurance immediately? 6. What about the Gas/Electricity and Water bill? When things are still not as per spec. do we keep the keys? Looking forward to your interesting(as well as disappointing) story. Re: Hand over day 2Apr 11, 2009 5:40 pm When I had my handover, which was this Thursday, all I did was go to the offices of the building company and collect my keys. I was also given a folder of information, such as the documents for the 6 month maintenance, the termite protection certificate, a general information booklet and a gift basket. Insurance for the house was already arranged, as it had to be done at practical completion which was two weeks ago. As for the bills for utilities, I haven't had any bills sent to me at my current house for usage which is the mailing address they have. So all in all, pretty uneventful! Re: Hand over day 4Apr 12, 2009 8:14 am our builder met us on site you go through very thing in the house and verything in the handover pack all the warrantys were explained in detail, insurance was alrady done as for the bills didnot to change anything as I had already done it.for the gas the builder had organised that for us. finished building 40 square home on 5 acres with perry homes.working on the landscaping just finished pool deck with ://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2217 Re: Hand over day 5Apr 12, 2009 11:44 am We did all that stuff at the PCI. He showed us to to operate the solar HWS and a couple other things, but we don't have an alarm fitted by them. We already had the warranties for all the appliances, so most of the stuff that needed to be done was already done before handover. All the utilities were already taken care of months and months ago as I had to start accounts prior to construction. So really there was nothing for the builder to do on the day of handover. All we needed were the keys. Built with Commodore Homes - The Fusion completed April 2009 (with modifications) Yes I have moved! Will update as soon as I can...no internet at home right now!!! Otherwise I would have had to wait until Tuesday for their usual handover procedure, which would have been at the house.
