Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 27, 2007 1:33 pm Just wanted to express our satisfaction in a small tribunal claims win over a certain builder who's made it VERY difficult for our family.
The story is, we've been building our house with this builder for almost 2 years. Our contract was delayed and delayed and delayed. Then there were extra charges because the price of construction was increasing. They were just a nightmare to deal with [and of course they have a small clause in their contract that lets them sneak away with it]. But 'the straw that broke the camels back' was the construction of the cabinets. I can' t say the details but lets just say it was not made according to plan. Before handover they said they will fix it. Knowing how ******* they are we made them sign a contract we made up stating they will fix it. As we predicted. They didn't do anything. Daily calls were not returned. We got an independent quote and they mentinoed $5k to fix the problem. So we went to the tribunal and ONLY THEN did they review the problem again. When they saw it, they said it was going to cost too much and refused to do it! So we went to the magistrate and let him decide. He ordered the builders to fix it. So they've fixed the problem and paid all the legal fees. It was a lot of hu-ha and took a lot of time and frustration. But we're glad that we did it. Some builders are just bullies. Nice to see some of them getting slapped. Re: small tribunal win against builder! yey! 4Mar 27, 2007 2:15 pm Well done.
Is this what prompted you to create your web site? Pity we can't get more people to contribute to your site, so we can get an accurate feel for the overall picture of a particular builder. Cheers Perry Re: small tribunal win against builder! yey! 5Mar 27, 2007 3:45 pm Yes! It was perryr! tthe bad service from this builder prompted us to make our site.
A lot of the topics in this forum are 'is my builder any good or is this builder any good?' so i figured why not make a directory of everyone's opinion. We do it for movies, cars and books - why not review the guys who'll be building probably the biggest financial investments in you life.
