Hey guys,
I've lurked here for a while but would love your opinions on something currently going on.
We recruited a licenced builder to manage some renovations to our home and up until recently we've been totally happy. However, we were recently presented with a final bill (we had paid up until post-kitchen install, which was the last of the 'big jobs') which detailed (at our request, since this was not initally offered) dates and hours of work performed.
The list included much legitimate work, but also contined much 'picked up x from bunnings' and many hours relating to fixing an issue with a benchtop install which may or may not have been the builders fault.
I'm curious as to what is considered 'normal' in billable terms - as a contrator I wouldn't charge my client for travelling to their premises, so why should I pay for a builder to pick up supplies and fix their sub-contractors errors?
Lastly, we checked the builders licence and noticed that it only covers not requiring home warranty insurance - what does this mean? You can assume that the total bill is greater than $12k.
Any help appreciated!
