Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 61Apr 23, 2009 10:37 am Thanks principessa I just assumed there was an appointment as we were told that we decide on where we want lights etc later down the track. But I didn't know when. Okay well I guess they will let us know when they need this info. Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 62Apr 23, 2009 10:43 am When Anita does your colours she also goes through the electrical plan. The standard is in your contract - but to make amendments - follow these simple rules 1. If you're relocating an existing light point/power point - liquid paper out the old location and use a black pen to draw it in the desired spot 2. If you're adding a new electrical item - draw it on your plan in red pen Simple as that. Bring it along to your colour appointment. If anyone needs prices of additional items - last time I checked: Standard bayonet light point - $50 Fixed CFL downlight - $98 Double power point - $50 TV point - $68 Phone point - $68 Combo TV, Foxtel, TV point - $198 Data point - $110 (all points terminating to central location) Pelmet light under kitchen overhead cupboard - $150 External junction boxes for future external lighting - $50 Footer light - $96 You just get bayonet fittings for the lights - if you want other fittings (oysters, ceiling fans with lights) installed - that costs extra. Prices were: oyster fitting $30, pendant fitting $50, ceiling fan to existing light point $50, ceiling fan to new point $80 After 4 years - we're in! Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 63Apr 23, 2009 10:53 am Hi Stonecutter1309 We had our colour appointment on the 4th April but Anita didn't mention the electricals. We have included downlights, footer lights and external lights and power points in our contract so they are aware that there will have to be some changes. Wasn't aware that you could get lights for under the overhead cupboards though, they would look great ! Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 64Apr 23, 2009 10:56 am I don't think our plans were done up at the time of our colour appointment so we were just told to work it out during the frame stage (there should be a "shrug" emoticon ) We probably need the additional time as the other half intends to insert that many cables, power points and other computery thingies into our little house that it will probably end up looking like the Griswold's at Christmas... Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 65Apr 23, 2009 11:00 am Lucky we are not very high tech so all we want are downlights, footer lights and extra power points inside and out. Couldn't even think of anything else we might want, how sad is that! I read about all these computer things that people are installing and I have no idea Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 66Apr 23, 2009 11:07 am We did ours early - but she said we could keep making changes until frame stage. The main reason for the early planning was trying to estimate the cost. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 68Apr 23, 2009 11:43 am I have changed our electricals in the last week, we added footer lights to the linen cupboard so that if the kids get up in the night to go to the bathroom they will have some light to get them there. We didn't think of it before but the electrician hasn't been to put in the wires yet so there wasn't a extra call out charge. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 69Apr 23, 2009 11:49 am stonecutter1309 Combo TV, Foxtel, TV point - $198 Hey stonecutter, For the combo point, is a telephone point & data point also included? or is it just 2 tv cables one for foxtel one for free to air? Nav Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 70Apr 23, 2009 2:45 pm It's 2 RG6 points + phone point. But no data point included (which seems stupid) After 4 years - we're in! Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 71Apr 25, 2009 2:08 pm Thanks Principessa, I was about to ask Wisdom that, I didn't know at what stage you meet with the electrician to make the changes to the electrical plan as they insisted that we sign the contract with the standard plan and make the changes later... was this the same with everyone? Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 73Apr 27, 2009 11:31 pm Hi Stonecutter, Sorry to sound a bit ignorant but what's the Combo TV, Foxtel, TV point - $198 for? don't you get these points added when you get Foxtel, etc installed? Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 75Jan 18, 2010 8:29 pm We are building Aspiration 32 at the moment. Their workmanship is not bad for the price you are paying, but their project management and customer service skills is very very bad. We are having contractual issues with them at the moment. I've submit a complaint to Fair Trading about it. Manager of the Wisdom home has no idea what the customer means. He sometimes confuses him and he thinks he is the customer...$$$ is the only language that he speaks. If you are after good customer service than I wouldnt recommend them. If you dont have budget issues, I would recommend Cosmopolitan. Their workmanship is excellent but their price is dearer. You feel that they value their customer until you sign the contract. After that wind starts to blow from the different direction.Their sales team in Ponds is excellent. Very helpful and try to do anything to get your business. Once the contract is signed, you have the deal with bunch of unprofessional contract admins and managers. I have to admit that their construction manager and supervisor is helpful and approachable. However, they dont know what the project management means. I bet they dont have any project plan for any of their site. If you decide to go with them, I suggest you to inspect the house very carefully. Because they do unbelievable mistakes. If you dont monitor them closely, you may end up with long outstanding issues list. If you have any other questions, I am happy to answer. Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 76Jan 19, 2010 10:49 am Hey Delight - sorry to hear you've had a bad experience. Which Manager did you deal with? Do you mean your Site Supervisor? Interesting you mention Cosmo - they weren't at all interested in helping modify one of their existing designs for us and I never found their sales people very helpful! I suppose it all depends on who you talk to - we met the Cosmo Managing Director and he was very good -but then the salespeople were the opposite. Would love to hear more about what went on - you can PM me if you feel concerned about raising the issue on the forum. After 4 years - we're in! If you have any other questions, I am happy to answer. Hi Delight, I'm going to build with Wisdom as well, still in the tender process. We have to sign the tender acceptance soon. I read your comments above and wondering what problems did you encountered with Wisdom? Was it that bad? Can I ask what mistakes did they do in building your house? I am worried now...Thanks. Re: Wisdom Homes Standard Range of Products and Allowances 78Mar 19, 2010 10:37 am hey willcres delight only made a few initial posts and then was never heard from again I knew what the dispute was and personally thought it was trivial and a little on the petty side. It was nothing to do with the actual construction of the house - but when the customers could access the construction site (which you're not supposed to do anyway!) After 4 years - we're in!
