We were all set to start building and then discover that we have a Melbourne Water Stormwater Drain running right through the middle of our property. There is no easement on the title and nothing mentioned in the Section 32. Neither our building surveyor or architect picked it up and the Council seemed to have no idea about it either. However, now we have to comply with all these Melbourne Water regulations regarding the new addition, which mean we have to change the whole design and there is also probably huge cost implications for a really small project. We live on a very small, inner city block and the work was quite minor. Has anyone had to deal with a similar issue or got any advice they could offer us?
