Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 19, 2009 1:00 pm Need to build a temporary dog fence... anyone know where in north brisbane I could get cheap 1800 mmhigh star pickets and chicken wire or similar mesh? Not having much luck on google - may have to stick with Bunnings but will cost me about $200! Thanks Re: Cheap star pickets/chicken wire - Brisbane North? 2Mar 19, 2009 1:38 pm There is at least one fencing place at Brendale (N NW Bris) that manufactures thier fencing/ metal products and sells direct. They might be called ....Advantage fencing??? it's on South Pine Road in the industrial area near the cement place.
You might also find star pickets and chicken wire at a 'produce yard' there is one of those up Lawnton way. If they don't work out both are not too far from the Bunnings in that area . I guess it just depends how north in north Brisbane you are. Hope that helps. Re: Cheap star pickets/chicken wire - Brisbane North? 4Apr 07, 2009 11:54 am Briz MS how did you go with finding the wire and pickets. I am looking at something similar and want it 1800 high and it will be about 25m for the fence. Just trying to work out how much it is going to cost. Also where did you end up buying from. I am in Adelaide, but am thinking of going to a demolishment/secondhand place as well. Or has anyone else done this? Where did you buy from and how much. Re: Cheap star pickets/chicken wire - Brisbane North? 5Apr 14, 2009 8:37 am I ended up just going to bunnings... I think the star pickets 1800mm were about $18 each from memory (don't quote me on that) and we just got a roll of garden wire for plants to climb as that is much cheaper than anything advertised as 'pet fencing' but seems to be standing the test so far! Otherwise the dogs can easily push their way under. I recently bought 50m of 900 high chicken wire for $75 and 50m of 2mm single wire for $11 from Bunnings , if this helps at all. Re: Cheap star pickets/chicken wire - Brisbane North? 8Apr 14, 2009 9:57 am We used zip ties to attach the wire to the pickets, and dug a little trench where the bottom of the fence would go then filled it back in to cover the base of the fence and placed some bricks along the bottom to discourage digging!
