Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 15, 2009 8:50 am Hi, hope you can help us. Our frame designer has shown the laundry chute doors too big (full size room doors!) but we don't know what size they should be.
Could anyone measure the door at the top of their chute and the one at the bottom that comes out in the laundry for us? It would be much appreciated. Thank you so much. JB Re: What width and height is a laundry chute door? 2Mar 17, 2009 8:23 pm Has nobody got a laundry chute?
JB Re: What width and height is a laundry chute door? 5Mar 19, 2009 6:06 am Gearbox The door at the top is 400mm x 580 mm. No door at the bottom in the laundry, but the opening is 500mm x 540mm. Thank you for taking the trouble to measure that - do you find that big enough at both ends? JB Re: What width and height is a laundry chute door? 6Mar 19, 2009 7:42 am The chute is almost a vertical drop. I have not had problems with it blocking, although I don’t dump big wads of washing in it all at once. It certainly beats lugging it down the stairs. Thanks - by the way, of the dimensions you gave me, which is the width and which is the height and are they the exact size of the door or do they include the frame/architrave? I really appreciate the help. JB Re: What width and height is a laundry chute door? 8Mar 19, 2009 1:06 pm Sorry, have been busy. If I remember I will measure it on the weekend....and have a look in my kitchen thread like kyton suggested, you may get an idea of size from the photo. Re: What width and height is a laundry chute door? 9Mar 19, 2009 7:39 pm Downstairs, the horizontal is 540mm. Upstairs it is 580mm across. This is the measurement of the opening and does not include mouldings etc. As long as the openings are around these numbers or even squared up, it should work, especially with a close to vertical drop. The only thing that has ever got stuck in it, was a very fat cat. But that's another story. JB Re: What width and height is a laundry chute door? 11May 24, 2009 3:17 pm What is the maximum distance from the chute door upstairs and the opening downstairs so it runs smoothly? It's not possible for us to have an opening upstairs right above the laundry Move your linen into laundry and access laundry from your present linen space 1 8002 Thanks again for this information.
