The head office experience is a complete shambles but if you get to the other side of that the building experience so far has been much better. Have great range of options at studio M but some options are hugely inflated in price-try and do as much as you can yourself afterwards. Re: good builder 3Mar 13, 2009 8:15 am we built with $imonds, we loved their houses. lm one of the lucky ones where didn't have too many things to complain about, we had brick delays but they worked around it, my biggest concern was because of the time of year l moved in (christmas), the tradies were too helpful in installing the appliances! that really isnt anything major!
house was built within 20weeks, be living in there 3months quality seems to be good, not completely happy with the paint work, but i think that is common with whoever you build with! We are getting that looked at in our three months maintenance check. Customer service, well good and bad, we did the contacting, so don't believe them when they say they will contact you, maybe once or twice through out but most time if you want to know something you should call them! l'd say 9 times out of 10 if we left a message they would get back to us, they were especially good and helpful when we had the problems at christmas, give them that much! overall it wasn't bad, but it def wasn't good l would recommend them, but lm sure there would be others who wouldn't! luck of the draw we were the lucky ones who had a good run, others unfortunately were so lucky! Hope that helps! Each and every one of the above have good and bad. You will be dealing with a builder and tradespeople - two people could build the same house by the same company and have totally different experiences. It has been two years since we began our Simonds journey and they have been consistently second rate. I have experienced terrible customer service, lack of transparency and poor control over their site supervisors and tradesmen. 6 Customer service reps and 5 Site supervisors. Believe me I am not a difficult customer, just expect to be treated with some dignity and a core level of service. We settled in late November and the past 4 months have been a constant battle to rectify their problems. The whole build period was a shambles and was 10 weeks over the contract date. Over-promise and under-deliver... That is my wrap, but I am sure they have the occasional good news story. You might get lucky. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20413 9 24790 |
