Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 11, 2009 8:41 pm Hey all,
Just wanted to see how much extra's people have bought and what they roughly paid for them. So you have your standard inclusions, you have your inclusions which I'm guessing everyone paid $999 for. But what else? What else did you purchase, upgrade from hopetoun interior that wasn't included? If you don't remember everything, rough estimates are still helpful! Cheers, Tim EDIT: Just realized this should have gone into the building a new home forum Re: PD Extras in Melbourne 2Mar 11, 2009 8:55 pm See my house thread 4th post for some upgrade ideas and our costs incurred.

You have upgrades I've never even heard off Out total spending was around 20% of the base price of the house excluding the 'Site Cost' which is yet to be determined Re: PD Extras in Melbourne 4Mar 11, 2009 9:14 pm Upgrades? Lots and lots..... If it was in the display, we added it. Plus some extras we thought up.
Hard to remember now, but there were a number of estate requirements that were upgrades (higher ceilings, upgraded facade, different roof pitch to standard), plus the promotional items available at the time. Then there were the electricals, the paint upgrades, the tile upgrades, the taps, handles, cabinet changes, extra doors, a wall added, deadlocks, bifold doors, feature niches, lots more. Which house are you building? Prices will vary depending on whether it's a Prestige, Lifestyle or Access home, and also depending on size and whether it's a single or double storey.... Re: PD Extras in Melbourne 5Mar 11, 2009 10:03 pm Well, our extras are about $50k, but that does include $10k of site costs. We could have done it for 1/2 the price if we wanted to as a lot of them are not necessities. I have a list on my blog too.
Our colours and tiles didn't add too much, probably the most extravagent thing was upgrading to porcelain tiles. I wish we had upgraded to colorbond gutters and fascia but the salesman talked us out of it. I suppose it all looks the same when it's painted though. ~ Hels ~ Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. There's a lot more to building than initially thought
The house we're building is here: (Lisbon24) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.p ... &start=510 Which is an access home, single story so i'm hoping it doesn't get out of hand! Whats the difference with colorbond and standard? Is it purely color choices or does color bond have added benefits? Also, I don't see evaporative cooling people are adding as an extra? Is it not worth the extra cost? Thanks for your input guys! Re: PD Extras in Melbourne 7Mar 12, 2009 12:32 pm TimmyDunlop Whats the difference with colorbond and standard? The standard is zincalume which is painted. Colourbond comes already coloured and doesn't require painting (like a roller door). We have chosen not to have evap cooling as we are having 2 split system wall air con units instead. It's cheaper and I hate the evap as it blows a lot of dust around and we are asthmatics. I also find evap doesn't cope well in the really hot weather, where as air con does. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new.
