Happy at Home Re: What did you buy before your house was built? 25Mar 11, 2009 1:11 pm lots of little things....IKEA stuff...lots of twigs Biggest purchase was a hall stand and now it doesn't fit with my other furniture...but can't afford to get more stuff now lol! great thread Kylie handover happened 15/6/09...love living on an acre but still so much to do! Re: What did you buy before your house was built? 26Mar 11, 2009 1:12 pm megzy Like Stormy I have to get me some of those wooden coat handers. love them The best price I have found for good quality ones are $2 for 5 hangers at The Reject Shop. Just be careful to look for the odd bent one, or the odd splinter! I know Ikea has them as well, but that shop is dangerous, and so I don't frequent it too often! Other $2 shops around the traps have them, but they are often $2.50 for a pack of 5 and the varnish job on them is crap! I've been happy with the Reject Shop ones...they are just a coat hanger afterall... I also should mention the stuff I have collected for my pantry! Eventually I'd love to fit it out with Tuppaware, but at this stage I can't justify the cost for a plastic container! Maybe once the house is all finished I'll go down that track! I also have bought a chandelier for the dining room. At this stage it's still hanging from the ceiling in the shop, but better there, than in storage or hanging about getting damaged. On lights, I've kept all the round white glass domes from our old house to replace those awful plastic builders shades ASAP, and before we make any other lighting decisions! Must remember to start collecting incandecent light globes...CFL's give me a headache. I'm hoping to order the fridge at the last possible minute during the mid-year sales. Hopefully they can warehouse it until we move in, which might only be about 8 weeks after (wishful thinking?). Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Plus, then I don't have to move even more stuff!
I am however buying a new lounge suite for the new place, but I will try to wait until about 4-6 weeks before I am meant to be moving in for that so I can get it delivered to the new house. Oh I may buy the odd gardening tool like a shovel, garden fork, a hose etc 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' I didn't think to add it but I guess for some it's not a given. Though atm I haven't bought many. Just had 7 roses grafted especially for me and bought a voilet creeper that was different to one I've kept since I moved out of home 25+ years ago and I've managed to source a replacement plant for a cutting I took from our last house that died last summer. Re: What did you buy before your house was built? 33Mar 12, 2009 1:56 pm My friends came to my old house and asked what we'd be taking with us to the new house. On looking around the living room and kitchen, I said something like "the fruit bowl, 2 frying pans".
That's it! We (ok, I) plan to replace almost absolutely everything, including furniture, all the electrical stuff, crockery, cutlery, glassware, towels, linen, you name it. We bought the crockery set in the January sales, and I'll start to buy something each week from now on all for the new house. I'll no doubt do some damage to the credit card in the July sales. We just did pre-start this week, so I've plenty of time to do all this shopping! Re: What did you buy before your house was built? 35Mar 12, 2009 2:04 pm Stormy Where do I start??? and I have my eye on the fridge we want, I got the Samsung Quattro ...its unreal...although the quality of the stainless steele is a bit ******* but the inside bits are unreal..its 752litres prob the biggest i've owned.... ---->Some say that a recession is when your neighbour loses his/her job while a depression is when you lose yours!<----- Re: What did you buy before your house was built? 36Mar 12, 2009 2:36 pm Natuzzi lounge suite (best ebay bargain ever!), King lounge suite for DS, (another bargain), 6 Kleenmaid appliances, side tables, bedroom suite for DS, side board, Moran sofa bed (for $10 needs recovering )....
I think that's it. But will be buying a fridge, front load washer and dishwasher. No more Tuperware for me. I've got four full cupboards here, two big removalist boxes stored in the pantry here and I think 4 large removalist boxes stored at the storage place (there may be more). If Tupperware have ever made it, I've got it. I became a Tupperware lady for a while to get more stuff and I did not make one cent because I spent it all on Tupperware. I'm not kidding when I say I could have a new car with my Tupperware spending. I'm your dream Tupperware party guest, everyone likes inviting me .... I need everything... and tend to buy everything. Hi I'm Jo and I'm a Tupperholic.... and can someone send me a catalog?? I haven't bought for a while and I need four tomato knives.... I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
