Browse Forums General Discussion Re: cost of different type of stumps 2Mar 05, 2009 6:26 pm are you talking in reference to house stumps? Timber is not used for house stumps. The most commen type these days are adjustable galvanised footings.
These types of piers can be used with timber or steel bearers and joists. They have a built-in antcap and can be adjusted after the concrete has been poured or fitted with a level bearer and the concrete poured into the hole with the pier in-situ Re: cost of different type of stumps 3Mar 05, 2009 9:03 pm Quote: Timber is not used for house stumps. what???? you have obviously never been to queensland then. Steel is definately the most common but concrete and timber are used in a lot of houses up here. Steel is definately the most common but concrete and timber are used in a lot of houses up here. Haven't looked under any houses when I've been up there, unless your referring to timber posts on 'Queenslanders' etc. Houses in NSW have traditionally always been built on brick footings, with steel very common now for bearer/joist type houses.
