Looking forward to the most?

So we have a thread about what you would include in your next build if you were to build again.

What I would like to know is what are you looking forward to the most about your new place once you are in living in it OR what were you looking forward to the most before you moved in if you are already in your place??

For me, I honestly think it's going to be the dishwasher followed closely by a garage with a remote control!! I've never had a dishwasher or a garage before and I think I'm going to love them the most!

Besides the whole thing of owning my first house of course!

I was looking forward to my walk-in pantry, my ducted vacuum and my WIR, none of which I had ever had before!

And decorating the kids' bedrooms

I am looking forward to sitting on the balcony looking at the sparkling blue ocean with a bubbly in hand :lol:

I will even get an ice bucket so I don't have to leave my seat. I am also looking forward to sitting at my new kitchen island bench with a bubbly in hand :shock:

looking at the sparkling blue ocean, I will have the ice and bottle in the sink so I don't have to go to the fridge. I can't wait to sit by the pool surrounded by beautiful sandstone retaining walls...with bubbly in hand, ice bucket close by

and I can't wait to get sick in my lovely bedroom so I can lie in bed all day looking at the beautiful blue ocean, no bubbly this time. :oops:

For me it was haveing an ensuite bathroom - our previous house was built in 1959 and had laundry and toilet off an enclosed back porch/sunroom.

Was very cold going to loo in middle of night and also we work shift work, one thing I hated was waking up when I was asleep during the day, busting for the toilet and haveing to go past other family members' visitors in my nightie to get there :oops:

You really wanted me to share that, didn't you, Lisanne :wink:

I'm looking forward to moving back in!

After going through the pain of building, living with in-laws and moving in, I had to move out to afford to keep it and get divorced. Bring on the divorce!

I keep walking into different parts of my current rental and going 'If I was in MY house, I would be in XX room" and imagining myself walking and being in the room/part of the house :oops:

Yes, an ensuite will also be something I'm looking forward to, however currently living alone I can walk around in whatever and there is no one to see. Oh and my current toilet isn't much further than what my ensuit toilet will be

I'm looking forward to being in our own home again. having not been in a rental since 1989 or so it's hard not being in your own home.

As for the house, I'm looking forward to having a dedicated office to put all my work stuff/hobby stuff in. haven't had a space to dump stuff for more than 11 years and no real work space that could be used properly ever before.

We've never had a garage before either.

It's lucky certain people on this forum don't live in the same town

we would definitely need rehab

OH nearly forgot, I can't wait to sit in the SPA :shock:

how could I forget the spa....WITH BUBBLY IN HAND looking at the sparkling ocean hehe :lol:

Looking fwd to being able to cook something for our friends other than a BBQ....can't believe I am typing this...I hate cooking, and DS1 is a CHEF! (no idea where those genes came from).

I guess I just love having friends over, sitting, chatting, eating, oh yeah, & drinking.......... :lol:

Well for me its the space. And just being in our own house again. We have been in small 2 bedroom houses for a year now due to Beechwood going bust. So we now look forward to having luxury

2. more than 1 bathroom
3. A decent kitchen
4. A big master bedroom
5. A laundry in side

Going to love not having house inspections, being able to hang pictures, paint walls, plant plants where and when I wish!!!

1. The lifestyle change, due to the location, I'll have my horses at my back gate, saving more than an hour of driving each day to and from them, not having to lug hay and horse food, saddle stuff, extra rugs etc in my car 24/7, being able to ride more.
2. Mud Room - a home for all the outsoor stuff.
3. Butlers pantry - Home for kitchen stuff ! - I have 2 cupboards in my current place !!!!
4. Dressing Room - home for clothes stuff.
5. Store Room - home for all other stuff

6. Garage with house entrance - no getting wet.

Hubby and I have been making this list since we decided to build.

1. Not coming out in the morning and seeing mud splatters all over the nicely cleaned car from the next door neighbours watering system.
2. Not having cars racing up and down the road in the middle of the night (we live on a major road in Adelaide, Marion Rd, and idiots tear up and down it on a Saturday night)
3. Not having to wait 5 mins for the lights to change so we can get out of our driveway.
4. Looking forward to being able to let the kids play out in the backyard without fearing they may end up on the road.
5. The space
6. My daughter is looking forward to her own room.
7. Not having the baby in our room.
8. Finally being able to set up a baby room. 3 babies and I've never been able to set up a baby room

9. Having a good excuse to get rid of all this crap I've been holding on to 'just incase it would look good in my own house when i finally own one'
10. Having my own craft room.
11. Finally being able to sit 8 people around my dining room table without first dragging it out in to the middle of the lounge room.

Theres more, but its late and I am to bed.

For me the list of the things l'm looking forward to the most are:

1. Owning my own home again and never paying rent again
2. Having a decent sized backyard
3. Having my own study/office
4. Having a Lounge/HT and Rumpus
5. The Spa Bath
6. The WIP and WIL
7. The large kitchen with lots of cupboards/drawers
8. The Alfresco
9. The Double Shower in ensuite and seperate toilet
10. Big bedrooms for us and the kids

There are heaps more, but they would be the main ones

For me I think it would be:

1. Having the space (we are currently renting a small granny flat and keep bumping into each other)
2. Having a dishwasher again!
3. Having spare rooms for our friends/family to stay over
4. Cooking in the nice new kitchen while looking at the bush views
5. Being able to change things around the house as it's not a rental!
6. I guess owing a house in this country for the 1st time!

There's plenty more but I guess I don't want to get too excited until we finally resolve the last few architectural drawings issues, sign the contract and get DA Approval!

For me it will be the following;

Living in a more quiet street and not having cars using our street to cut through.
Using the rumpus room as a play room for the kids and their toys.
Having proper air conditioning and not evaporative which I hate.
Having a butlers pantry with room for all the kitchen appliances.
Having a low maintenance yard and hopefully some fake grass.
An internal door from the garage.
5 star energy rated home with solar HW.

For me it would be:

1. Waking up on a weekend and walking out to the patio and to see kangaroos and nature in the backyard.
2. Looking out the bedroom sliding door in the morning and not seeing another house
3. Taking my son for bushwalks in the forest behind us
4. Sitting in the family room on a cold winter's night drinking port
in front of the fireplace. (yes even in Brisbane)

Having my own home

and being able to do what I like to decorate it
WIR and ensuite, used to have a toilet in the laundry outside!
Huge kitchen with WIP and a light that comes on when the door is opened

Theatre room
Two bathrooms, never had this before
Plenty of bedrooms
Sliding doors and french door internally to close of sections of the house so my dog can relax where she pleases and not get into any mischief
