Ask them for the instructions and then just change the coding in the main motors. There might even be dip switch settings which may help secure it too. Does this mean you'll be changing every single lock in the house as well? doesnt everyone do this..?? I don't know anyone that has done that. The keys and locks are brand new, no one else has a copy of it. Re: garage remotes change post handover..? 7Mar 02, 2009 2:28 pm when my folks bought a new house the door has two sets of "mech" inside one for a shorter key and when handover took place they got the "propper" keys but since then they have chnaged the locks anyways after a "near" break in just before their second trip OS. Well no. Unless things have changed since I was in the industry every builder has his 'master key' which fitted all locks on homes he constructed. Each lock is individually numbered and after handover once the key with that number is inserted in the lock, it voids his master key. I think you are being a tad over-security conscious by changing the locks and remotes again. And no, never changed the locks when we moved houses with my mum and with rentals you aren't allowed to. maybe iam abit paranoid.. Re: garage remotes change post handover..? 11Mar 02, 2009 4:55 pm I dont know about the garage remotes but I am with you on the door locks - I would certainly change the door locks if I was buying an established house - its not just the vendors but anyone the vendor has cut keys for - I know I've given my kids keys to my house, for example.
For a relativley cheap outlay, I think it is worth the peace of mind. Re: garage remotes change post handover..? 12Mar 02, 2009 6:30 pm Just change the dip switches......pretty straightforward job.
Have heard of house breakers that drive down random streets pushing a garage door opener till they see a door going up. Maybe it's just an urban myth but with 4 dip switches you may get lucky one day. Been in a similar position and we decided to let the builder go. Some of the PSA money goes to engineering so we at least got those documents and they actually refunded us… 2 6013 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35190 5 10417 |
