They're 2400mm long - fits a Queen size sheet. Better still the frame's front corners are bent steel - not plastic. I can even hang my doona on there without a problem. Have a look here - http://www.daytek.com.au/products.html Buy direct from the Factory in Preston (that's if you are in Melbourne) 10yrs warranty on Rotary and Fold downs and 5 yrs on retractable. I have a 52m Rotary ($160.00) and a 22m fold down ($65.00). Pretty cheap! Happy at Home Re: Clothesline type and reasons 49Sep 04, 2009 2:31 pm DH just bought our clothesline yesterday from the Hills factory shop in Sydney. Saved about $80 on the Bunnings price. It's the biggest traditional clothesline that we can remove when necessary. Our yard is a weird shape, so it will most likely be removed quite often. Judie Re: Clothesline type and reasons 51Sep 05, 2009 6:26 pm we have had both the hill hoist and wall mounted one>this time in the new house we went for the wall mounted one even thought we have 5 acres so no problems with space.I just donot like the hoist sitting out there in the middle of the yard just does not look right to me.At least we olse the wall mounted one up when not in using and its much easier than the hoist fold down ones.We are a family of 4 we have no trouble with the queen size sheets fitting on there and it copes well with the washing but I do wash as so has I have wash tub full. finished building 40 square home on 5 acres with perry homes.working on the landscaping just finished pool deck with ://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2217 Re: Clothesline type and reasons 52Sep 05, 2009 7:09 pm Judie DH just bought our clothesline yesterday from the Hills factory shop in Sydney. In my last home we had a retractable and the previous home we had a retractable that dies and got a rotary that you could move if need be, which never happened so you sit and look at it all day. The retractable at our last house was great as it on the side of the home although the down side is you could see it ffrom the kids bedrooms windows. As my kids are older now I don't want their friends coming over and seeing our washing on the line. The Australs are better (and I have had them before) better quality than the Chinese ones and all Australian and larger loads. I will get the Austral Addaline 35 folddown one on a wall where there are no windows on the side of my home as we had discussed a rotary to move when people over, etc. I knew from the last house this was not a good idea. The place where the fold down will be is also handy to the laundry!!! Thanks for the help, now come on Henley and finish my house! Re: Clothesline type and reasons 56Sep 06, 2009 10:07 am Great post as we are just in the process of going to buy a new clothesline. I would have gone and bought a hills as I thought they were Austraalian owned but looking at the Austral website it seems that Austral are the only company that are. Has anyone bought a special order colour and if so is it more expensive than their standard colours? Re: Clothesline type and reasons 57Sep 06, 2009 7:48 pm Hey guys, Great to see everyone offering suggestions. Like others i thought hills were the only brand of clothesline worth buying. I don't have much space down the side or in the backyard, so i'm going to visit the daytek factory in Preston, Melbourne and grab one which is apparently factory seconds! but it still has the 10 year warranty! Will let you guys know how it goes and what sorta condition 'factory seconds' is like. Thanks again to everyone for their suggestions! Re: Clothesline type and reasons 58Sep 06, 2009 8:06 pm Hi. I am a dag. Our clothes line is right outside the family room window. I wanted it there because I have the memory of a goldfish and if I can't see the washing I forget to bring it in. The house that we lived during the build had the line around a corner, and I forgot so often it was ridiculous. Plus usually my hubby hangs it out before he goes to work, and I bring it in later. We saved our old line. We uprooted it and stored it at the back of our block. My family put it back up for me on moving day. It was v.funny though, the arms all came loose and it looked like an umbrella in a storm. We all laughed till our sides hurt. I want to get a little fold out for next to the laundry for things that need to hang in the shade. It's on my list Re: Clothesline type and reasons 59Nov 17, 2009 4:20 pm I was thinking about a HH, then I discoverd Austral. Their product is Australian made unlike HH, which I was shocked to discover was made in China. I will buy the Foldaway 51 and later a cover which goes over the top so it can be used for shade, on occasions when we will sit out side, or be entertaining, it can be another area for people to sit.
At our old house we had a removable one which we did take out on occasions, then at the rental we had a wall mounted one which was not big enough for the bed linen and other times washing for a family of 4, 2 of which a teenage boys.
