Mernda & Doreen Residen 3254Apr 18, 2011 2:54 pm aajinoz M&L Newtown42 Hi All, A word of warning, there will be some Mobile Speed Cameras out and about this week along Hazel GlenDrive And Plenty Road Mernda. He is always there now as a matter of course! Anyone drives over the limit on that road is asking for trouble IMHO. And I always get some hood tailgaiting me too which is annoying. You're not one of the motorists who seems intent on doing 65 km/h down plenty rd at all are you ? Sure fire way to get some close attention. I'm no hoon, but I tell you what, next person I come up behind on plenty doing 15 clicks under the limit is going to get the high beam treatment. Over it in a big way. I reckon drivers driving that far under the limit are more dangerous than a driver going 5 km/h over like our wonderful government keeps telling us. Frustrating EVERYONE on the road, banking traffic back, making people consider over taking, flying thru round abouts so they can get in front. Some people who use that road need to remove their heads from their arses TOUGHEN UP PRINCESS Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Why would you assume that, when aajinoz is specifically referring to drivers who travel at speeds in excess of the legal limit? Putting my support team hat on, a little courtesy towards other forum members would go a long way. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! I agree, it's 50 on Hazel Glen before the bridge and the same on Schotters, but you always end up with some idiot up your butt, let them overtake if they have to, they will be the one with the fine. I was refering to this point only "And I always get some hood tailgaiting me too" and in reference only to plenty rd also. It was just a question anyway, sorry if i upset the tea party! the rest of the post was un connected to the question. and now, if you can seperate the above comment,... unconnected story below, directed at NO BODY IN PARTICULAR.... I am on the road all day for my job, i drive close to 85,000+ km's a year, and i often hear of people complaining about being tailgated by others. What i have found in many many cases is the people being tailgated are also partially to blame due to driving well under the speed limit and not being entirely aware of their surroundings (but of course in the public's opinion, driving 10 km's under the limit is A-OK and we should all be doing it because it just MUST be safer.. right?, what a croc of SH1T that is!). I encounter far far far more people going well under the limit (im not talking 5 km/h here, im talking 10+) every day compared to people tail gating me. I accelerate at a good rate from intersections and maintain the speed limit at all times as well. I think that driving style and not being tailgated virtually ever cannot be a coincidence. Maybe if people stopped worrying about how many L/100km of petrol their car is using and accelerated a little harder once and a while, and concentrated on driving and maintaining speed instead of talking/smoking/eating/drinking/selecting songs on their iPod, there wouldnt be so much agro out on the roads. Chalk another one up tonight on the way to Mernda. Stuck behind some dreamer with vacant road ahead of him doing 70 km/h all the way from the 7/11 in south morang all the way to the first round about. Got around him at the round about, and put an easy 300m space on him getting up to the limit (i think a brisk walker probably would have made their way past this guy in a canter), looked back, and all i could see were a string of headlights bunched right up behind him all the way down plenty rd as far as i could see. I hadnt broken the law, i wasnt speeding, i was just accelerating at a decent rate and maintaining the speedlimit. If anyone thinks that doing 70 km/h on an 80 km/h road is fine and 'safe', then you are also part of the problem, because it isnt fine. And the greatest myth ever sold to the public is that speeding causes accidents, because it doesnt, and there are VAST VAST studies undertaken in europe, on roads in far worse condition than Australian roads, that prove this. Incappable drivers cause accidents, and if you are incappable of doing 80 km/h in an 80 km/h zone because its a bit dark out there, or some precipitation is falling from the sky (remember, these speed limits are designed in mind for worst case scenario pitch black rain falling conditions), you should hand your licence in now. Just take a glance at the speedo next time you are getting some close attention from someone. If you're doing the speedlimit, then they are a grade A moron and fingers crossed natural selection will take care of them in the coming years, if you're under then you are the one who's the poor driver for not being able to maintain the designated speed limit. This has been a courteous public service announcement by me, in the hope to make us all better drivers, by being more aware of our driving Remember, its a privilage, not a right. Mernda & Doreen Residen 3259Apr 18, 2011 7:23 pm it was just after the 7/11 when it merges to one single lane, i think the road is Gordons rd, so about 400 meters down the road.
