Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Moving to Mernda 64Mar 10, 2009 11:23 am Hi everyone, does anyone know where I can get cheap(er) fresh flowers from? I love having flowers inside my house. I went looking on Saturday as we had people over Sunday and Monday but couldn't find anything. The Florist at Westfields doesn't have alot to choose from and I don't like buying them from the supermarket as they are usually half dead.
Thanks p.s - someone brought me over a HUGE bunch of lillies (my fav) on Sunday and then a friend brought me over a smaller bunch on Monday so I've been a little bit spoilt......but it's so nice to smell them in the house Happy at Home Re: Moving to Mernda 65Mar 10, 2009 11:44 am Have you tried Mernda market? I dont think they had any last time I went though Epping Plaza sometimes has stalls but I havent seen them much either! There's also one at University Hill, but I've no idea of prices.
There were always some growers around the Whittlesea area, not sure what they grow or if they sell direct, but you could go for a drive and see. Re: Moving to Mernda 68Mar 10, 2009 3:11 pm Thanks Ladies. I'll try Whittlesea. I would have thought that there would be flower farms around.....not sure why I just did. I used to have a cheap flower place from a run down ol' shack in Vermont. He was cheap as chips
Kek, where is the stables? I don't know Mill Park. Bam, yes I did think of the Market. Might have to go for a look next Monday Happy at Home Re: Moving to Mernda 69Mar 10, 2009 4:14 pm hi house-to-be,
On sundays , there is a craft market in greensborough car park ( the one near the centralink, swimming pool, saver ), there are quite a few stalls with fresh flowers and plants. The price is really good and cheaper than nursery. Bring the kids along, they must end up with sth.......probably toys Spring is here! Hurray! Re: Moving to Mernda 70Mar 10, 2009 4:34 pm Thank you Nott. I'll go and have a look next Sunday.......on my own...no kids.....a few hours for me Happy at Home Re: Moving to Mernda 71Mar 10, 2009 7:15 pm Hi House-To-Be,
I believe the Greensborough market has moved recently to latrobe uni or similar (still on Sundays) and does not operate from that site anymore due to the redevelopment of the area (currently on hold). I used Zambuka Florist at Uni Hill when selling. They had a good range, a bit $$$ but was the best I found in the area. If you pass through Preston at all you can't beat the drive thru florist on Bell St near Harvey Norman - Very Cheap. Happy at Home Re: Moving to Mernda 73Mar 10, 2009 7:43 pm Toni, the Stables is on Childs Rd, corner of Redleap Ave. You can't miss it, there's a big stable..... The florist is at the back, via the smaller car park off Redleap.
One of the only things I miss about my old house is that it was a 10-minute walk from those shops. And a 20-minute walk to Plenty Valley and Rivergum. And I didn't have to drive my kids to school. *sigh* My Mum does a a bit of floristry, I'll see if she knows of any cheap suppliers around. If I remember. My memory is hopeless for stuff like that. Re: Moving to Mernda 74Mar 10, 2009 8:24 pm Oh, sorry that my info was not updated I hadn't visited the Greens~ market for quite some time. B4, I really got quite a number of gd things: A book about Princess Diana, my favourite cartoon figures , plant, food... So they won't be back even the plan for the plaza upgrade suspended?

Nott Oh, sorry that my info was not updated I hadn't visited the Greens~ market for quite some time. B4, I really got quite a number of gd things: A book about Princess Diana No problems Nott I've been to Althorp to see Diana's stuff. My 2nd child was born on the day of her funeral......about 20 people taped the funeral for me to watch but I never did. I had a very short 3 hour labour but wouldn't let anyone turn the telly on in my room, I was so upset. Some of her dresses were just beautiful and she had the most gorgeous figure. It's quite peaceful at the lake where she was buried....... I did a bit of looking around the area and they had the best value nearby.
Hi Nott: No, not yet...about to start the build. Re; Greens~, I don't think it is going back there as that whole area is being incorporated into an Aquatic Centre & extended shops.
