When choosing a selection that will be external NEVER look at it inside. This will never be the true colour; you should ALWAYS take your samples outside to see how it will look in the sun, or in the shade. While choosing selections for internal, NEVER take them outside to look at them, this will also give you a false colour. How many times did I see people take a carpet sample out of the shop to look at the colour of that sample in the sun. It made me laugh, I just couldn’t help but ask them where lay laying carpet instead of lawn??? Always remember, if you are choosing a selection for a certain part of your home look at in the same lighting that selection will be going in or on. Never look at your external paint colours internally either, these too have to be view from outside, before you make the final decision. You will be surprised how much they will change once taken outside in the light. I hope this has helped. I also make sure that I look at the colour at different times of the day in the same spot because light varies throughout the day! My husband always know when I've been trying to decide paint colours because I stick samples up on the wall and have glance at them throughout the day and night to see how it looks!! I was told to choose the colour I wanted for my internal walls, and get it 1/4 strength. I wish I had now Is this something you recommend? I did my kitchen half strength, and that wasn't very much lighter at all... Re: A bit of advice for all….. 5Feb 27, 2007 2:28 pm Hi Lotte,
I work off a fan deck for paint colours, these colours gradiance is pretty good so there usually is no need to ½ or ¼ strength any of the paints. When I select a colour for a client, it’s never one that should be altered. I like my clients to see the actual colour in an A4 swatch as it will look on their walls, either internal or external. do you think an Austral Governors range "king" brick with raked off white morter, with a boral tiling "gunmetal" colour goes with colourbong surfmist panel lift door, bond off-white windows and colourbond surfist fascia, downpipes, door and woodland grey would work as external colour matching? Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this. Re: A bit of advice for all….. 7Mar 08, 2007 7:40 pm Give me some time on this one I need to go to the website of Austral, for the tile colours.
Sorry. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: A bit of advice for all….. 9Mar 24, 2007 5:05 pm Hello!!!!

As you know, its our first house and we know how important getting the right brick and tile is. I personally think these colours will always go together, so its very reassuring to hear it from someone who knows more about this than we do. thank you. Good thinking, but I would add, try to look at internal samples, under lights similar to that you would find in your home.. For example, how many homes have row upon row of flouro lights like they type they have in the showrooms? This sort of light is a different color to tungsten lights typically found in a home.
