The line out from your boundary trap through to the junction on the main isnt Sydney Water's "assets", it's part of your house drainage system even though it isnt on your property. The property owner's responsiblity extends past the boundary trap right up to the junction on Sydney water's main even though this may be out in the middle of a busy road. This is how it's always been. And in the event that the junction needs replacing, Sydney water insist upon the property owner's plumber excavating around the entire junction so that they can replace it. Thanks for clarifying.
