Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 23, 2009 3:56 pm Hi All
I am building a small unit and as such the washing machine has to go in the kitchen. I have been looking for a Front Loader that is a silver or grey colour to match the stainless steel oven, but so far all I have found is an Asko one for about $1800. I am hoping to spend under $1000. Does anyone know of any other brands that sell a Front Loader in silver/grey colour? This is purely for looks, and I thought a silver loader won't stand out as much as white... Thank you Re: Silver Front Loader Washing Machine? Anyone painted one? 2Feb 23, 2009 3:59 pm Check out GraysOnline - they often sell new Asko washers for cheaper then that.
Other then that the only one I can think of is LG but it is around that $2k mark from memory. What about hiding it behind a cupboard door? Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Silver Front Loader Washing Machine? Anyone painted one? 3Feb 23, 2009 4:20 pm I hadn't thought about a cupboard door, but not sure how I would go about that as all my joinery plans are signed as well as the selctions so no changes are allowed to be made.... Re: Silver Front Loader Washing Machine? Anyone painted one? 4Feb 23, 2009 4:25 pm Adding a door isnt too hard though, but that would mean your washer has to fit behind it.
Also, greys online has a big trap, the buyer pays a 15% premium ontop of the price you bid, so be careful of the TOTAL cost of the item. Otherwise, there are a number of spraycan silver stuff you can use to change white goods to silver. Re: Silver Front Loader Washing Machine? Anyone painted one? 5Feb 23, 2009 4:27 pm I haven't heard of painting whitegoods. Is it special paint? Can you buy from Bunnings?
That would work quite easily.... Re: Silver Front Loader Washing Machine? Anyone painted one? 6Feb 23, 2009 7:36 pm I saw it on better homes and gardens (or similar), Ill try and dig up some info...
Here it is: http://www.plasti-kote.co.uk/Product/pcode---4245 and instructions (very basic): http://www.plasti-kote.co.uk/Idea/icode---5280#step Basically, take it outside, cover up the bits you dont want paint on (like the hinges that are plain metal on most fridges, seals, etc.) and spray. Presumably its avaliable at most hardware stores. Were looking to do it with our fridge, cause it wont fit most moden kitchens. Re: Silver Front Loader Washing Machine? Anyone painted one? 7Feb 23, 2009 8:15 pm Thankyou Hellman for those instructions...
Has anyone successfully repainted their fridge or washing machine and does it look ok? I would love a photo or two? Re: Silver Front Loader Washing Machine? Anyone painted one? 8Feb 24, 2009 6:30 am an old neighbour of mine painted his beer fridge in a hammertone paint, blue from memory, it looked really good. He sanded it back first though.
