Hi all,
One of the first things l look at in a floorplan is the amount of storage the home provides. I've seen scores of floorplans and to me, most of them do not provide ample storage. A double linen cupboard seems to be the norm and in some just a single linen cupboard is provided
So l thought l'd start this thread to discuss the amount of storage OP have in their homes and if they consider it ample for their needs or not....Also for OP who are looking at building, they can get an idea if the floorplan they are looking at will provide adequate storage now and in the future by referring to a list of items that they already have or eventually will have.
So to kick it off here is a list of things that our family has in our storage spaces:
Towels
Beach Towels
Hand Towels and Face Washers
Bed Linen - sheets (cotton and flannelette), pillowcases, quilt covers
Tablecloths
Blankets
Spare Quilts
Spare Pillows
Sleeping Bags
Sports Bags & Backpacks
Esky
Cooler Bags
Picnic Set
Party & BBQ gear (utensils, plates, streamers etc)
Boxes of Photo Albums
Box of Misc Electrical appliances, cords,
Unused Wedding Gifts
Christmas Tree and Decorations
Christmas Lights
Wrapping Paper, Cards, Envelopes and Gift Bags
Vacuum Cleaner x 2
Hand held Vac
Brooms & Dusters
Steam Mop
Suitcases and other luggage
Portafiles and Tubs of household documents
Umbrella's
Torch, Bike Pump, Foot Pump
Inflatable Double Airbed
Spare Toilet Paper and Plastic/Green Enviro Bags
Tents
Household Tools
We have to store all this in 2 double linen cupboards and boxes stacked up along the garage wall. Somehow we manage to cram it all in...just! Our new home though will have a large Walk-In-Linen, cupboards in the Laundry and an extended garage to store all this stuff...and l cannot wait!
But as each household is different, l'm sure there are a gazillion things that others store away, so feel free to add anything else to the list!
Edit: Additional items mentioned are added here:
Bikes
Prams
Picnic chairs
Board Games
Toys
Schoolbags
