Just had my Climate Smart Home Service and am now playing around with my wireless electricity monitor. Our new toy is just like watching TV and the wife is running around the house turning appliances on and off and watching the monitor show how much they are costing us.
When it was first turned on we were consuming just 17cents /hour, a bedroom aircon put it up to 27c/hr and a hotplate out our power bill up to 87c/hr.
Not too sure if it's available in other states but in QLD it cost $50 and you get every light globe changed over to energy savers, you get all shower heads (choice of chrome or white) changed over and you get a wireless electrical monitor installed.
I've also just finished insulating the roof. Luckily (or unluckily) I have been buying one insulation pack per pay and gradually installing them. I was currently half finished when the govt rebate package came out. So I have just had the insulation company finish the job and I have kept the receipt to get my money back after July 2009.
If you do it now you must arrange and pay for it yourself and claim the money back (max $1,600) after July.
After July you ring a 1800 number and it will all be arranged for free. (2% of houses will be audited)
Ok it's back to my monitor and turn the PC off to see how much this post is costing me!
