Well as they say bad things come in 3s and this last few weeks have been a doozy for me. Car crash. Garage door died. Plumber called in. And now...my front door lock as broken and the key just spins around and around and around (oh, that's more than 3 ). I wonder if I can just go to Bunnings and buy a couple of new deadlock sets (I will have to replace the 3 matching throughout the house; the backdoor has been dead for a few years already so might just as well!). So I pay the locksmith just for labour? Anyone got any idea on costs? I have already forked out hundres this week for plumber and the garage guy is coming on Tuesday. Not happy Jan TIA Re: Quick question about changing door locks 2Feb 06, 2009 1:37 am Don't know how much they charge to replace a lock, but we locked our keys in the house once in Melbourne - called the locksmith. For 5 minutes work? $95 dollars! But it's one of those things you just have to do - because it's not like you're going to be staying out in the garage the rest of time... After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Re: Quick question about changing door locks 3Feb 06, 2009 6:02 am Take your locks off and take them to the locksmiths - ask for new barrels keyed alike - shouldn't be too expensive.
