I will be using my 3rd bedroom for a guest bedroom when my adult children come to stay. I had a door put in from their room opening into the bathroom and extra power points so that they can recharge their mobiles. I shall buy a tallboy for their clothes and they can use it to put their case on top. Has anyone any other suggestions for making them more comfortable please? It is a very small bedroom. Thanks Falconbrook Re: Guest Bedroom 3Feb 05, 2009 10:25 am From my experience staying with friends / family :
I'd second the bedside table thing. Its the top drawer that I most use, its a great place to store books, passports, cash, purse, medication etc. Space for case under the bed - if theres two people thats two cases. TV in room - While for the majority of time I'm outside with the rest of the family spending time with them, I also need alone time so if its 10:30pm and everyone else has gone to bed, I can at least pop CNN on in my room when I'm getting ready for bed. Extra Blanket / Pillow - at 2am if I'm cold I'm not going to be waking my inlaw up to tell her about it. Towels - I'm never sure what towel to use if I'm staying at someone's house. Is that a guest towel or MIL's favourite hair towel ?. Give me my own please or tell me what I can use. I'll leave it in the bathroom but at least I know I can use that one. A bin - travellers come with rubbish. Tissues - few people think of packing more than 10 tissues ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hope this helps Building Upside down house in Wantirna VIC Current Stage: Procrastination... it's just all too hard.... Put a calendar on your fridge and mark out your households regular movements and special events. For instance if you work 2 days a week or you have dog training Saturday mornings, a BBQ at sally's on Saturday afternoon etc. . If you don't normally have one just do it up for the period of time your guests are staying with you.
If its on the fridge your guests will read it and its a subtle way of letting them know whats going on (bbq's in their honour, when your not available etc). Just a suggestion. I have my fingers crossed that the headboard with two side drawers will fit in, I hope that the plasterer does not plaster too thickly.
A good idea to put the cases under the bed this will free the space on the tallboy for a television. I do usually give an extra blanket and pillows and I have lovely nice new Sheridan towels especially for the bathroom. I would never have thought of a bin, another good idea and I have space for one. A calendar, brilliant, if someone suggests going somewhere and I have something else on I am always too embarrassed to say, a calendar will overcome this. Thanks again I am sooo glad that I posted to the forum. Re: Guest Bedroom 6Feb 05, 2009 9:34 pm Np - glad to help.

Yup, bedsides are a must. So are lamps. All the other suggestions are great too. Have you thought about putting in a pc/data point, in case they have a laptop? Perhaps a mirror (full length) inside the wardrobe (if you have one) or bathroom door, would be handy too. Hope this helps Re: Guest Bedroom 8Feb 06, 2009 12:11 am As I do not have a laptop had not considered a pc/data point but my 18year old has one so will add that too.
I have not been able to see myself in a mirror from the waist down for ages which is a blessing but I am sure that my granddaughter would love to see herself. I will put a mirror on the wardrobe door a mirror in the bathroom might get a bit steamy!
