Are we all winding down for the weekend?
I am new here, so please excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong place. I've recently settled on the land at The Ponds - NW Sydney (Blacktown Council, NSW - (yup, officially a mortgagee now I am very excited about being part of a neighbourhood which seems to be quite friendly and diverse (from what I can see anyway , hope it stays that way!
I was wondering anyone would know whether my situation would allow me to be eligible for the recently boosted FHOG (first home owner grant).
To be eligible for the new FHOG amount, it says on the NSW OSR website that you have to enter into a contract between 14/10/2008 and 30/6/2009. (http://www.osr.nsw.gov.au/lib/doc/facts ... _fhob2.pdf)
We settled on our land before 14/10/2008; HOWEVER we are yet to sign our builder's contract - we are signing ours in Feb.
Given our situation, are we eligible for the new boosted FHOG? I would think there's no problem because I believe that they go by the building contract, not the land. Am I right? Anyone out there who is in the similar situation can perhaps advise?
