We had some windows stolen at the weekend from Mernda Village Drive Epping. All the toughened glass is branded EcoClassic and the windows are all silver, double glazed. If you happened to see anything please let me know. Thanks Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Maybe the builders had better start putting fences around their building sites there... Re: Theft of Windows - Update - Mernda Village Drive 5Jan 29, 2009 4:09 pm Yesterday, as we got to our block, there was a 4WD turning into our driveway.
We followed him in, and he pulled to the side of the driveway, and waved us on, smiling.. We thought it was our SS (we havent met him yet), so we went on, expecting him to follow us. Instead, the 4WD did a u-turn and left.. As our windows and doors are sitting out in clear view, we wonder if he was planning on loading them into his 4WD (or anything else he could find!) -Sha I hope you find the low-life's that took your windows Eco! Re: Theft of Windows - Update - Mernda Village Drive 6Jan 29, 2009 5:39 pm They are the builder's windows he will pay. But it causes everyone so much trouble. And everyone pays for the thief's activities.
I am a dobber... This week I saw someone stealing from a major electronics retailer. I saw them take the item and dump the box. I retrieved the box and gave it to the store with the car regio and a description of the thief. I was in macca's carpark having breakfast waiting for them to bring out my bacon and egg McMuffin, (hangover cure ). A guy in his 40's got into his big 4 wheel drive with his wife and kids..... turned the ignition, let it roll back and it hit the front of a parked commodore. He just looked at his wife and drove off. The kids that owned the commodore came out and I told them what happened and gave them his details. His tow bar had actually cracked the front bumper. Hope you get your windows back Ed.... karma dictates that someone will dob in the thief for you! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. 1am Sunday our neighbour's dogs go ballistic, wake our neighbour, who gets up to find 3 blokes in full moonlight, lifting one of the panels of our site fencing & walking through our house. They obviously didn't find anything worth stealing - no wiring, no copper pipes. THey drive off. IN the meantime, our wonderful neighbour had rung the police who arrived in 5 minutes, in 3 cars along with the dogsquad. - must have been a quiet night down at Cronulla The cops did a search via torchlight to find nothing missing but a couple of blocks away a 4th police car stopped a car carrying 3 guys & got their personal details. Now that was a coincidence. Would have been interesting to know whether they were tradies involved with our build because they knew exactly which fence panel was unbolted to be able to get in so quickly. Re: Theft of Windows - Update - Mernda Village Drive 13Jan 29, 2009 8:44 pm I didn't know that stealing was so rife on building sites Mind you, our front door and it's surrounds was stolen the other week
As for stealing from shops, I used to work in retail and I managed to catch a few myself. The biggest one was the couple who stole several bottles of French champagne - I noticed a big gap in the shelf and called in help but they bolted off. They were regulars and I think had been doing it for ages. Wish I'd caught them earlier. Re: Theft of Windows - Update - Mernda Village Drive 18Jan 30, 2009 5:52 am Ed, just out of interest, and tell me to mind my own beeswax if you like
In cases like this, would you charge the builder the full amount for the windows again, or would you give a discount in light of the circumstances ? Re: Theft of Windows - Update - Mernda Village Drive 19Jan 30, 2009 6:08 am donuts Ed, just out of interest, and tell me to mind my own beeswax if you like In cases like this, would you charge the builder the full amount for the windows again, or would you give a discount in light of the circumstances ? The builder pays. We heavily discount windows into displays in the first place - as this one is. The builder should pay because it's his job to maintain security and someone else paid he would do a bad job, so he carries that reponsibility. The problem we have is the time it takes to replace the windows. Actually as I said in an ealier post, we all pay becuase each house is loaded with a provision for theft (and bad debt, and trade damage etc etc). So everyone, keep an eye out and report everything suspicious - it's your money.
