I am sorry to upset you but feel I must tell you this, so you can make your own choice there were many action groups against it for that reason finished building 40 square home on 5 acres with perry homes.working on the landscaping just finished pool deck with ://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2217 Re: Ropes Crossing - FHOB - ADVICE APPRECIATED 5Jan 28, 2009 4:36 am yvette72 the old adi site I was tring to stop that going ahead not to upset you do realize what this was used for to store bombs etc from the war they are buried under the ground there is unxplosive bombs buried I know many oldies that work on that site, there is even talk there could be atomic waste buried, I can tell you I would not buy there and many of my friends would not buy there I am sorry to upset you but feel I must tell you this, so you can make your own choice there were many action groups against it for that reason Ah good old urban myths ... 1/ the place was used as a munitions factory and storage and the only munitions that were tested were rifle and mortar . 2/ no they did not bury bombs there . 3/ and if you believe they buried nuke waste there , you really are a numb nutt. 4/ the reason for the action groups was to stop the development full stop so as to keep it as parkland and save the roos and emus . Now i used to do deliveries into there years ago and drove all around the site And yes i agree the hole place should have been made a park as its pretty special with its billabong's , bush and animals . But by the same token that was one of the reasons why we bought a block there . Re: Ropes Crossing - FHOB - ADVICE APPRECIATED 6Jan 28, 2009 7:20 pm donot believe me I suggested to do some research as it was all there in the paper.I was warned by a former penrith council mayor and another councillor never to buy there,my aunt and grandmother also worked there so I heard many stories from them I guess according to you then they must have been story tellers then. they worked there through the wars years. Also you are not right as the action group was started due to public out cry from locals who knew it was not safe the animals were only to try and stop it on a environment front,You can believe what you what but I know the true and so do many others.I feel that I must give the facts so people can decide for themselves instead of salespeople giving you a rosie picture and if you call me a numb nut for that so be it, I know I have know the right thing finished building 40 square home on 5 acres with perry homes.working on the landscaping just finished pool deck with ://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2217 Re: Ropes Crossing - FHOB - ADVICE APPRECIATED 8Jan 30, 2009 1:17 am yvette72 the old adi site I was tring to stop that going ahead not to upset you do realize what this was used for to store bombs etc from the war they are buried under the ground there is unxplosive bombs buried Are you sure about these claims? If they were true, how would they obtain the DA approval from the council? If you were part of a public interest group, did you try to take it to The Land and Environment Court? Not to be confused with Harold Ropes Crossing 9Jan 30, 2009 12:23 pm Hello, I just thought I would enter the conversation. I am the Project Director of Ropes Crossing and I just want to clarify some of your concerns regarding Ropes Crossing.
The site was used as a base for a munitions factory during the Second World War. Production of munitions ended in 1994 and a lengthy remediation process was carried out between 1993 and 1997. The site remediation was a thorough, transparent process that is on the public record. An independent audit conducted under NSW Legislation from 1996 to 1999 verified the site as clean and suitable for urban development. In response to yvette72’s concerns, we are advised that there was no radioactive waste ever generated on the site, and independently verified that there is no radioactive waste on the site. I hope this clarifies things for everyone. Please feel free to pop into our Sales and Information Centre for a coffee if you are interested in learning more about what Ropes Crossing has to offer. Thank you for your interest in Ropes Crossing! Thank you for your interest in Ropes Crossing! You know, if I had a dollar for everytime I heard these rumours about Ropes Crossing I'd be very rich by now. I have to congratulate Natalie for grabbing the bull by the horns and tackle the issues. Nobody wants to hear all PR about residential developments but sometimes you need to state the facts. Re: Ropes Crossing - FHOB - ADVICE APPRECIATED 13Jan 31, 2009 10:25 am of course people who make money for the development are going to say it is safe.we have development here that the state said was safe to build on over twenty years ago too and now twenty years later over 25 homes are unsafe people cannot live in them these people have no homes now, so yes it does happen I could give you countless examples were governments have allow development on land that was unsafe but I would not waste my time on it finished building 40 square home on 5 acres with perry homes.working on the landscaping just finished pool deck with ://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2217 Re: Ropes Crossing - FHOB - ADVICE APPRECIATED 14Jan 31, 2009 6:25 pm Somehow, i don't think we'll see the end of this argument for a while yet. Re: Ropes Crossing - FHOB - ADVICE APPRECIATED 15Jan 31, 2009 9:05 pm i worked in the area for a long time, I know it better than most, I have been in the houses that surround that estate and it's not a nice place for kids to hang out in, it is a stones throw away from Tregear and Ropes Crossing is known by the locals as Tregear Heights. i would not live in that part of town if i could help it.
