Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 06, 2007 12:51 am I recently had my property demolished by a company called [edited] in Perth. They did everything right, except that the next day after they completed their job, there was a pile of rubbish/debris left on the (far) back of my unfenced site.
I rang them up regarding this problem, and went to the site to take some photos for evidence. Photos were sent to them via email. Heard nothing from them. The next day I made an effort to call them again. They said they'd look into this matter and get back to me (they had been pretty slack from the beginning), but insisted that I should make the full payment. I told them I would only pay 1/2 of it (which I did on that day), and the remaining would be paid only when the job is done accordingly. Today I got a call from this demolition contractor. He claimed that the debris belonged to the neighbours, AND pointed out it was MY FAULT that I did not instruct him to remove the debris while he was working on the site. He accused me (and shouted at me) for not turning up during that time and that he couldn't "read my mind". Now, the agreement stated to "remove all rubbish", wouldn't that be obvious enough? Anyway, he hang up the phone on me.... Just wondering, those of you who have done this, were you present at the site while they were doing the demolition? I had another property demolished several years ago by another company, and I wasn't never asked to be at the site while they were doing the job. Now this [edited] guy ACCUSING me for not showing up to instruct them??? I also called my local council to go over to see if it's done according to the councils requirements. Any of you who have done this, please give your comments and of what I should do. Would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance. Re: Problems with a demolition company (Perth WA) 3Feb 06, 2007 3:08 pm For the OH&S issue, I don't think you should be (allowed) there. I 'd send them a formal compliant letter / email (cc: to authority). Re: Problems with a demolition company (Perth WA) 4Feb 07, 2007 3:55 pm Thank you for your replies.
Yesterday & today, I got phone-calls from the demolition company asking for the (remaining) payment (already paid 1/2 of the total). It has been only a week since I received the invoice, They still insisted that they were not instructed to remove the rubbish/debris. They also mentioned that the matter was discussed between them and my then property agent (it was a rental property & the agent helped me to get the quote for demolition). Anyway, after reading the contract again, it clearly stated that "PRICE INCLUDES REMOVAL OF SHED, HOUSE & ALL RUBBISH". Any of you who would like to know the name of this demolition company, please contact me: dolcezza998@hotmail.com I wouldn't recommend them at all. Their price may be slightly cheaper, but pretty slack ! On top of that, the customer service is F- Re: Problems with a demolition company (Perth WA) 5Feb 09, 2007 3:30 pm You haven't really clarified if the rubbish is yours or the neibhours or was it placed there before or after the demolition.
