I would have assumed that the stackted stone would have been most of that budget. Sure! Wood and blue board $250 Stackstone $200 (only 2 sq metres) Glue for Stackstone $free (a mate had some leftover) Render (free) leftover from house build Paint for centre $45.00 So far we are up to $495.00 and even if you factored in the render and the glue we are still under $600.00 Re: Neighbours be gone - Part 3... 23Jan 20, 2009 7:15 pm petal Who's a clever boy, then????!!!!!!!!! Looks great - we'll be doing the same sort of thing at our place to block out the ugly garage wall that was built against our old garage wall (well, I won't, personally!!! ) So, I'll be showing DH your handy work, Matt! Matty wanna cracker?? Nah just a cold glass of water. Before this I had never: a/ built a wall b/ installed blueboard c/ used or installed stackstone d/ rendered... I can now say I have done all these things. If it wasnt for the internet I would probably not have given it a go....but I am glad now I did Re: Neighbours be gone - Part 3... 24Jan 20, 2009 7:31 pm It looks fantastic! I have shown DH, in order to shame into work . He is a chronic procrastinator and has promised to have my downlights installed and my deck built within three months of moving in, the clock is ticking, two months to go... I keep emailing my husband links to your various project threads (hey, it's the 21st century, that's how people communicate, y'know! ) He now has a looooong list. Re: Neighbours be gone - Part 3... 28Jan 21, 2009 2:07 pm Looks great. Good on you for having a go at something new. Whats next?
Cheers PP Re: Neighbours be gone - Part 3... 29Jan 21, 2009 3:26 pm Good on ya!!
I've now got new neighbours on my right whose Laundry door is right opposite my Lounge Window. They like to hang out their washing in their jammies every night. Something like this would block out their door/clothes line area. BTW what do you think of the solar lights?. I've just got some for a water feature and pot plant. It's not as bright as I'd hoped tho!! Re: Neighbours be gone - Part 3... 30Jan 21, 2009 5:55 pm What a great idea, I love stackstone....and a very professional job too Matt. I hope you don't sit staring at your wall all day because I can remember doing just that every time we (DH)...did something new in the yard, just sat and stared at it, cause I thought it was so lovely Re: Neighbours be gone - Part 3... 31Jan 21, 2009 9:21 pm Sharee It looks fantastic! I have shown DH, in order to shame into work . He is a chronic procrastinator and has promised to have my downlights installed and my deck built within three months of moving in, the clock is ticking, two months to go... I tend to be a bit if a bull at a gate...and I get the idea and it kinda just gets done. That said I love my playstation time more than working in the yard!! Re: Neighbours be gone - Part 3... 32Jan 21, 2009 9:21 pm donuts thanks for the pics. It looks really good. Will look even better with something planted there. (A wall light to shine on the plant would look nice too...) I think I have decided on a semi mature yukka in a large pot ... now off to find one! It's not as bright as I'd hoped tho!! It is nice just to look at something out the window other than my neighbours and it creates a feeling of privacy too. I am pretty happy with the lights i bought, I will post some pics below. They are not as bright as the 12V ones at my old house but I only wanted the effect that I have in the pics. It's funny though, whenever I see the title of this thread it reminds me of that ad that Chris and Marie do with their neighbours-be-gone hedges Building our dream H3nl3y home together House: Cott3sloe Modifications: Extended ensuite, grand dining, grand rumpus, Bedroom 4 option, two plus garage Frame done, roof tiles are on, brickes start this week! Re: Neighbours be gone - Part 3... 39Jan 21, 2009 9:59 pm So after another trip to Bunnings we bought these solar lights:
I like this pack as it came with 3 lights (one for each stackstone pillars and 1 for whichever plant I go with) and it is nice and easy to wire up . It just clicks together. It also automatically turns the lights on when the sun goes down! Easy... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the solar panel mounted to the top of the wall.
