Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 30, 2008 6:20 pm Hi Folks
I had put down an initial deposit with a builder which we later decided not to go ahead with. I was aware that the deposit would be non-refundable if contract drawings and a soil test was done, which i was fine with. When I phoned the Sales Consultant and informed him that we will be cancelling and I asked for the deposit back. He said soil tests and contract drawings had all ready been done. I was ok with that, I asked him to send me a copy of the soil test, 3 weeks on and im still waiting, doesnt reply to my emails either. We have since gone with another builder, they had a fax from the land developers to say the land is not ready to have a soil test performed yet, which surprised me as how did the other builder say a soil test has been done then? Anyway I'm not happy as now i feel i've just been fobbed off, and all i have to show for my initial deposit is just a sales quotation. Does anybody know which authority deals with problems like this in Victoria? Thanks G Re: Building complaints which authority do i need to go to? 2Dec 30, 2008 6:30 pm The Building Commission is your best bet. Check out their Enquiries, Complaints and resources page: http://www.buildingcommission.com.au/www/html/1767-who-can-i-contact.asp
There should be a hotline number you can ring to find out what your options are. You'll find that as soon as sales consultants have their money they will do little else! Ring the main office and ask for someone else to help.
I'm sure you will get the info easy. In regards to doing the soil test, administrators order the soil test based on what clients advise the sales person. I know when I was working in Melbourne, often the client would think that the land was ready and tell the sales to do the soil test. Soil test would be done but land not complete....additional fill may still go in. Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6466 brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7658 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7451 |
