We want 4 bedrooms, 2 living spaces but dont want only a couple of metres of backyard. Carlisle are our front runner too, we like the Cordova, would give us about 7.5 at the back. Cordova is a nice layout, my wife says we MUST have a walk in pantry, and we'd prefer laundry to be seperate from the bedrooms not inbetween 2 of them, otherwise it's close to what we are after. Because of the 5m required at the front you really don't want a house much longer than about 22m so you still have 5m at the back, we got the 18m frontage so we can still get a 12m wide house and still have 5m to the fence on the side with the living areas. Luckily we don't have an easement to deal with on our lot. Gone are the days of the big back yard unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Re: Wallara Waters/Wallan 423Jul 23, 2012 5:32 pm Haha I would love a walk in pantry but unfortunately it looks like finding a house the right size and budget for our block means we might have to forgoe that. So true, no big backyard for us unless we move a long way out or win lotto! Lot 951 in stage 9. Bit bummed that they've just changed titling dates to March but oh well, we'll just have to wait! Think we've decided on a builder too, all very exciting. How's everyones builds/planning going? Wallara Waters/Wallan 427Jul 30, 2012 5:38 pm Congrats on joining the community! Bummer on your title delay Which street is your block on? I'm in stage 1 but only moved in 3 months ago. We bought a block that was already titled so we didn't have to wait to build Sent from my iPhone so please excuse my spelling mist cakes Building the Drysdale 30 Wallara Waters, Wallan My Blog : http://www.ourwallanhome.blogspot.com My thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=50975 Re: Wallara Waters/Wallan 428Jul 30, 2012 6:47 pm Thanks Cat! How exciting that you're in, I can't wait until we're there. We're going to be on Yan Yean Ave, which are you on? We'll be one block off fronting the park, we've checked out the one that's already built and love that we'll be accross from the third park! We contemplated buying a titled block but we live in NSW at the moment and are heading to the US for 6 weeks in November so really didn't want to have to start paying a mortgage until the new year! Re: Wallara Waters/Wallan 429Jul 31, 2012 4:44 pm We are actually please with the delay till March as we weren't likely to start building till middle of the year anyway, that extra few months is several thousand dollars we will get saved, and possibly mean we will start building almost immediately. We are on Tarago Street, our driveway will basically look almost straight down Yan Yean Avenue. Re: Wallara Waters/Wallan 435Aug 24, 2012 8:09 am We have been given an approximate date of early September but this could change. We have to do a final inspection before we hand over the rest of the money and they give us the keys, and unless the work is done as to what we expect then we won't be signing off on anything untill the work is done. I think it will be more like the end of September, early October before we are ready to move. We have also then got to get the driveway done and the fencing, which will be done as soon as we have the keys, weather permitting!! Re: Wallara Waters/Wallan 438Sep 01, 2012 3:02 pm Yes, we've received our rates notice. We had our final inspection on Friday. Just a few things to get finished off before settlement which is expected to be in about 2 weeks, so should be moving in shortly after that. How is your house going Viking? You can't be far behind us. |
