This is where our gas meter is:

If you were in our place, will you be happy with its location?
We put in a pergola in order to address the 'turn-the-corner' facade requirement set by our land developer, as we have a corner block.
It was supposed to be a feature of the house...
But now it doesn't look good because of the gas meter!
We rang our gas provider and they told us that it's our builder who decided where to put the gas meter. Yes, they can move it, but we will have to pay.
We emailed our builder and requested for it to be moved nearer to the house but after more than a month of follow up, we were told that it's the "relevant authority" who decides where to put the gas meter.
We asked who's the "relevant authority", and they said just ring the gas provider.
Do you know who really decides the location of gas meter?
Is it the council?
Land developer?
Builder?
Gas distributor?
I refuse to pay $300+ just to be able to relocate it after handover.
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
