Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 15, 2008 12:52 pm Just wanting to ask anyone building or that has built with Urbanedge if you guys have had an independant inspector through the building process? and if so was there anything they picked up on that wasnt satisfactory???
Was it worth it? or Not? Thanks for any replies Building Urbanedge Larne 002 Re: To any Urbanedge People building!!! 2Dec 15, 2008 8:36 pm Hi Chris & Bel,
We are currently building with Urbanedge (almost at lockup). We didn't employ an independant building inspector, but have relatives who are builders, plumbers and electricians. The relative who is a very experienced builder had a good look through and only noticed a couple of minor issues which we passed onto our SS. The other relative who is a plumber had a good look at all of the plumbing and didn't find any issues. So far the quality of the work is excellent and the SS is on site 3 days a week. In the industry their reputation is very good for a volume builder. Hopefully it continues that way. Reputation or not, I would always err on the side of caution and get someone to look through to make sure that everything is done correctly. Building Urbanedge Larne 002 Re: To any Urbanedge People building!!! 4Dec 16, 2008 9:04 pm Just a misaligned fascia and some dints in the guttering. A couple of the walls are not exactly plumb, but the SS was aware of these and is having some carpenters coming in to fix.
Have you guys got some issues? FD2 www.thebedbug.com.au Children's Licenced and Treehouse Manchester for all of those new rooms! Well 4 to be exact and they were all small things like changing the shower head height and the height of the overhead cupboards in the pantry.. and everything we changed they have seemed to install incorectly. Almost like they are going off the plans without our variations.... the SS is aware of the mix up but we just dont like the thought of things getting installed and then ripped out to fix there mistakes.
Otherwise everything is looking good so far! We more just wanted to know if there is anything we should look out for when walking through. Thanks! Building Urbanedge Larne 002 Re: To any Urbanedge People building!!! 6Dec 17, 2008 9:08 am Yes these are things that we are keeping an eye on also. From what I have heard the Larne is probably there most popular design. I guess most of the trades just assume that they are the same. It all boils down to communication.
Although they are doing are great job on ours, we try to have a look at it a couple of times a week to make sure everything is Ok. I did notice the wrong insulation had been delivered (probably not their fault). No response from UE but I did notice most had been picked up. We changed the width of the refrigerator space in the pantry (increased to 100cm due to the size of our fridge). Measured it last week and it looks correct. Building Urbanedge Larne 002 Re: To any Urbanedge People building!!! 8Dec 17, 2008 10:02 am Yes it did. It meant that we had reduced cupboard space in that room. This is not a big drama as I will be using this as an office. We also dropped the powder room fitout and are using this as additional storage as well.

Do you know the completion date of your home yet? Building Urbanedge Larne 002 Re: To any Urbanedge People building!!! 10Dec 17, 2008 10:30 am just another question going back to the fridge space...
did you lose some depth space in the pantry shelves? and do you know what size it is now from plaster to plaster in the fridge space with the change? Building Urbanedge Larne 002 Re: To any Urbanedge People building!!! 11Dec 17, 2008 10:47 am When we met the SS last week he thought handover should be late feb early march which is what we had been anticipating.
We have two sets of plans. One from back in May when we originally got our site costs and then started looking a cheaper UE designs (eventually went back to Larne). The original set shows the space from plaster to plaster as 930mm and the revised version shows it as 1000mm. The pantry shelf depth remains at 450mm. The difference is made with the bedroom 2 robe rear wall width. This is shorter by 70mm. The shelves are now inline with the edge of this wall, where as previously they had a 70mm gap. Fringe Dwellers - Building Urbanedge Homes Larne 002 www.devohosting.com.au/fringedwellers A question. Im in Queensland and building a new home.
