Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 14, 2008 2:41 pm I am really excited about a house i saw advertised for sale but i can not get in it to see it. The house is vacant and i am still waiting for the agent to get back to me. I rang yesterday morning and he said he would ring me back in the afternoon and we would meet to see it. Well surprise he never called back.
I rang again this morning and he admitted that he had forgotten. He said he would ring me at 2pm to make sure that the keys were in the office. Well it is now 2.40pm and no call. Is it just me or do people say things in the heat of the moment and never really intend on following it up. Do you think i should ask a more reliable agent to show me through or am i just a bit impatient because i love the house? Re: How long will it take to have a look at this house???????? 2Dec 14, 2008 3:16 pm Get someone else.
He obviously isn't professional in his attitude toward you. Do you really want to be dealing with him if you like the house & want to take it further ?? Pester him. He may be slack enough that you can also get a good price. I didn't think you could do this, but maybe it's different here.
I don't think you are being impatient maurita; the agent ought to be doing everything he can to sell the house for the vendor, especially in this market. I'm sure the vendor wouldn't be happy to know that he 'forgot' there was an interested buyer! Thanks guys 5Dec 14, 2008 4:10 pm I am not sure if he is the sole agent or not. It is now 4.04pm and still no phone call. I get really annoyed with this type of service. I am a firm believer in the whole,' if you say you are going to do something just do it'.
I mean if something unexpected came up, just ring me and let me know and i will understand. To be fobbed off twice is just so frustrating. I think i will ring the office tomorrow and let them know how i feel about it, i will also find out if they are the sole agent too. Thanks for your input everyone, i will let you know how i get on. Re: How long will it take to have a look at this house???????? 6Dec 14, 2008 4:18 pm Being fobbed off is one of my pet hates.
I would ask the neighbors if they know the owner's phone number and if possible call and tell them about the problems you are having with their 'salesperson' and not being able to gain access to view, that might sting him into action. A slowing real-estate market will soon see boofheads like this fall by the wayside. What a great idea. I am thinking of ringing him soon, hopefully he will be in the middle of dinner.
I was reading your posts about your new home Michelle, isn't it frustrating. Monday is no good for me as i do not drive and i need my husband home to take me, plus i have other plans tomorrow anyway. Oh well such is life i suppose. If the agent is less attentive to you, he is less attentive to other potential buyers too... push him to get the best out of him and keep the owner out of it. Explain that you have been trying to look thru the place through the agent, to no avail. I know this sounds quite cynical and would be absolutely illegal but, sadly, it does happen. Write to (or email) the agent and let him know you are interested and would like to view the property. Difficult for him to get out of that. If he plays the property down when you view it then this could still be the case - but he can't easily escape when you make an offer. But he can tell his mate... I agree with the idea of giving him some time so you don't seem too keen, then when you can't take it any more, find a way to go direct to the vendor. He doesn't deserve your money. Some more ideas, thanks to everyone. 18Dec 17, 2008 10:43 am Well some more great ideas i must say. I just found a site that i can do a title search, it cost $15 but that is ok for me to get the satisfaction of going over the agents head.

Re: How long will it take to have a look at this house???????? 19Dec 17, 2008 11:17 am Ring the agent again and tell him you want to look through the property. Don't let him say he will call you back. if he doesn't do it go above his head to the owner of the estate agent (unless of course he is the owner). Then if that fails go to the owner of the property.
