Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 14, 2008 8:18 am I'll have four wardrobes in the new house - his&hers in the master BR, one each in BR2 & BR3. Each being dual-sliding door type. One door will be plain, but we're in two minds about the other door -- plain, full mirror, or the much more expensive mirror insert.
Any opinions? Chris Re: Wardrobe sliding doors 4Dec 14, 2008 9:48 am I think mirror wardrobe doors are a pain to keep clean; grimy finger marks, etc, you don't have this problem on a dressing table mirror as it is set back and you dont touch it constantly like you do a door.
So I would just do plain ones, especially in a childs bedroom. But thats just me, because I am lazy and I hate cleaning Re: Wardrobe sliding doors 5Dec 14, 2008 10:14 am In the master bedroom I'd be inclined to spend the extra money and get the insert mirror - does this mean you can open and close it without putting your hands on the glass?
I would've bother for the subsequent bedrooms, for the same reason as the previous poster mentioned... chances are it'll be children staying in there and even if you gave them a handle to use... they'd still put their sticky fingers on the glass! Damn fingerprints! But I am also lazy. Depends how much time you have to clean! Good for cramped rooms. It will also help bounce light around and make it brighter and also seemingly bigger. There are good psychological and energy benefits of natural daylighting. Re: Wardrobe sliding doors 7Dec 14, 2008 2:30 pm I feel like an intruder 'cos I'm a new poster but I'll post anyway ....
I'd like to know what other think, I personally don't like the mirrors, I do realise they make open up a smaller room but I think they look a bit ... shal I say tacky? I'm curious as people have looked at me funny when I've said that we aren't having mirrors on our wardrobe doors! Re: Wardrobe sliding doors 8Dec 14, 2008 3:04 pm Jilly I think they look a bit ... shal I say tacky? This site might give you a better idea about the way mirrors can be used in a stylish way: http://www.wardrobeconnection.com.au/#b ... rwardrobes Re: Wardrobe sliding doors 10Dec 14, 2008 4:11 pm To use the above (yuk) mirrored doors I think you would have to love seeing an awful lot of yourself.
The insert mirror doors in the link that dymonite offered look far more stylish. I guess it all comes down to taste and whether one's is 'tacky' or not Arfur Re: Wardrobe sliding doors 12Dec 14, 2008 7:00 pm Southies Uncle Arfur To use the above (yuk) mirrored doors..... I really like those doors Southies, I am getting something similar but the mirrored sections will be white glass so I will put some mirrors behind the bedroom doors, just a long strip about 500 wide. My friend has mirrored wardrobes the length of her bedroom, she sleeps in the nude, the wardrobes are the wall opposite the door which is at the end of a small hallway, open space house. She lives on her own and doesn't usually worry about shutting doors, once she forgot when family was staying with her, got out of bed and reflected herself full frontal to everyone in the living area.
