Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 09, 2008 9:40 pm Hi everyone, I've been using this site as a resource for months but so far I've never needed to ask a question as someone else was always there before me and I've found all the help I've needed. However, we've now hit our first problem in that our builder says we can't have the taps we chose in the bathrooms because we're having a stone counter top. They've given us a choice of 2 taps which would have to be wall mounted and we'd need a tiled splashback instead of the mirror. Trouble is we really really don't like either of them! Anyone else come up against this? Thanks. Jo Re: taps in stone benchtop 5Dec 10, 2008 8:14 am Alternatively, ask them to mount a block of wood or something under the stone where the tap will go. The reason they cant do it now is the stone would be to thin to screw the tap up tight against so it would be all wobbly. But they can put a batten under it to make it thick enough Built with Bentley homes in Doreen All moved in Dec 2009 Now for the garden! Re: taps in stone benchtop 8Dec 10, 2008 12:04 pm Wanna Thanks for the help guys, I can't believe we're the only people building with PD who upgraded to stone benchtops and they've never come across this before! The people that I know of who are/have built with PD all have the taps on top of the basins. Re: taps in stone benchtop 10Dec 10, 2008 12:32 pm Come to think of it, they are all square........not good for you is it.
Actually, I think Bel (haywgl) is having QQ bench tops with round above counter basins and the extended pin mixer tap. You might want to ask her. Have you seen any PD displays with stone tops and basins/taps you like? Which house are you building? Re: taps in stone benchtop 12Dec 10, 2008 12:51 pm Wanna We're building the Francis 29 at Woodland Waters in Mernda We're just up the road in Mernda Villages Moving in a couple of weeks! Do you want recessed round or above counter round basins? Re: taps in stone benchtop 14Dec 10, 2008 1:03 pm Yep we are having stone benchtops and salad bowl basins. We upgraded to extended pin mixers and nobody mentioned it was a problem. I might check with my CSC though.
I don't see how they can't do it though we are in a home now with 40mm stone benchtops and we have extended pin mixers coming out of the benchtop - no problems. My karma ran over your dogma Re: taps in stone benchtop 15Dec 10, 2008 1:07 pm Hi, thanks for the reply, it was the extended pin mixer we chose. Going back in on Friday to finalise contracts so we'll see what they suggest I guess. Everything else has been pretty easy but this is frustrating. I really want the QQ but the taps are important to get right, I don't really want to have to swap them over later and hope there's no damage to tiles etc. I guess we could swap to the square basin in the ensuite if the taps come out of that but it still doesn't solve the problem in the bathroom..... Re: taps in stone benchtop 16Dec 10, 2008 1:12 pm I just shot an email across to my CSC to ask - she usually replies within 5 minutes so I will keep you updated
I will be having the same problem if this is true because I have stone benchtop, extended pin mixer and salad bowl basins in ensuite and bathroom. I know it is possible though as we have the exact set up where we are now! My karma ran over your dogma Re: taps in stone benchtop 18Dec 10, 2008 1:16 pm no it doesn't......
Good luck. I hope everything turns out. Let us know what happens. Re: taps in stone benchtop 19Dec 10, 2008 1:27 pm God I love my CSC she has got back to me already
She said it is not a problem and they will mount the mixer to the benchtop.
