And it'll keep all you common South Morang/Mernda people from driving to Donnybrook to get on my nice clean Wallan trains!!! Bet you don't bet an onboard bar though! Its just amazing how alot of these projects will start just before or on the year of the election. Re: Excellent News for everyone building out near South Morang. 6Dec 08, 2008 2:21 pm I just do not get it.
The Government has said it will cost $380 million to build the train line between Caroline Springs/Sunshine and werribee, BUT will cost $650 million for the Sth Morang extension which is a heck of a lot smaller plus most the land is already sitting there waiting for the tracks. I don't get that price! Am I wrong in thinking they have given that such an inflated price tag so as to justify why they had to cancel the other extension up through Epping North that had been promised. It was not that long ago that one of the papers got their hands on the Governments infrastructure departments costings on both these lines which showed their costings were around the 80 million for Sth Morang and 340 million for Epping North! To me something just does not add up here... $650 million is bull for just Sth Morang. Why they wouldn't just extend the line through Epping North and then cut it straight over to South Morang from there. This would also pick up a couple of the estates developing between Epping Rd and Plenty road while also picking up Mill Park Lakes! It does not seem that complicated! Re: Excellent News for everyone building out near South Morang. 8Dec 08, 2008 8:02 pm It looks like the station will be near plenty valley shopping centre... so it is really down in mill park. I was hoping it would be a bit further north than that. Re: Excellent News for everyone building out near South Morang. 10Dec 09, 2008 6:37 am Bam Well, Im definately glad I didnt listen to the sales assistant and buy the block at Riverdale across from the railway line which would 'never be built' It only the South Morang train station getting built at plenty valley shopping centre. The sales assistant still could be on the money Re: Excellent News for everyone building out near South Morang. 11Dec 09, 2008 10:19 am Hmmm I was under the impression it went further than that?! Or is that where the mernda line will run through?
Anyone know where the proposed mernda station will be located? Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! The Mernda station is eventually planned to be somewhere around Bridge Inn Road, but as to when that might happen, who knows? We lived in Mill Park for 21 years and were constantly promised the South Morang extension, so excuse me if I'm a bit sceptical.... It will be nice if it ever happens, but I'm not sure I can survive the roadworks that will inevitably result. We just got through two years of roadworks on Plenty Rd that made our lives hell. Right now, I'd be happy with a bus service that actually goes places you want to go, AND that has timetables that match with other bus services and trains. My kids can't even get home from school 5km away without major dramas - it more often than not takes an hour for what should be a 10-minute trip.
