Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 03, 2008 8:35 pm We have movie posters our 6 year old wants to put up in his bedroom.
Could I please have some recommendations/ideas on what product/s to use to stick them up without killing the paintwork and that will also be strong enough that they won't keep falling off? Thank you xMadmel ____________________ http://marshallmansion.blogspot.com/ Re: Posters on walls - what to use? 2Dec 03, 2008 11:21 pm Hi madmel, we used good old blu-tak on our kids walls!. Haven't had a problem yet. Another idea would be to frame the pictures properly with a frame that is only glass, i think they sell them at ikea? Helps them stay looking nicer for longer, and you can use the command hooks to hang them. Good Luck! They are sort of two rods. The top of the poster slides into one rod and the bottom of the poster into the other. Then the top rod you just hand as you would a picture and the bottom rod provides a gentle weight to keep the poster staright. Much cheaper than laminating or framing and the pics can just be changed, and another poster put it in it's place when the kids tire of them. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Its awful stuff and I wouldn't use it. I think they are just called poster hangers. I bought mine at BigW, they are not very expensive and then you just hang that on a command hook. We had blu tack rip off paint and bits of plaster on our walls as it was a bit old and stuck on hard.... So I don't want that in my new house!!! (It was a very ******* paint job though, so I'm not surprised.) Re: Posters on walls - what to use? 9Dec 04, 2008 12:49 pm I've always had the blutak rip the paint off too. Re: Posters on walls - what to use? 10Dec 04, 2008 1:49 pm fairy blue I've always had the blutak rip the paint off too. I was waiting for someone to say that! I use the tack……IF the walls are newly painted, and in a semi gloss to low sheen, you wont have any problems with the paint work peeling off with the poster. A more professional look would be the poster hangers. Ohhh I know….double sides tape…………..NOT! Don’t anyone use that stuff. I used to whack on a bit of library tape to the corners of my posters then the blue tac, and you wouldn't get any greasy mark left on the poster. Don't use sticky tape, though, that will turn yellow!
