Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 29, 2008 3:42 pm I built my house and we moved in to live in 1998 and now 10 years later a building lawyer or inspector started to send us these letters asking for a inspection about occupancy permit. So we let them in and had a inspection and now they asking us to do a few minor adjustments so it can be according to the safety and building standards. If we fail to do so they will send us to the building commission.

Thank You Hope to hear from you guys soon Re: occupancy Permit.Need help 2Nov 29, 2008 3:57 pm Who exactly asked for the building inspection and are they authorized? Unless a government agency asked for the inspection, something funny is happening.
Ha the organisation that did the inspection offered to fix the problems? For a fee! - They appear from nowhere 10 years after completion - The *threaten* to notify other agencies - They supposedly need to do some work, but won't tell you the cost It all sounds really suspicious and weird to me. I wouldn't have anything to do with them. To any further enquiry from thenm I would simply answer "I've made alternate arrangements." That's it. No other info. If they want to take it further then so be it. And if they do notify some government agency, then good. It's all then official, the government department can tell you what really needs to be done and you can then choose who needs to do the work (if any!). Do the hard jobs first. The easy jobs will take care of themselves. - Dale Carnegie I don’t think so as the floor area over 300 square meters then it is class 3…. 12 17942 Looking to start the journey of becoming an owner builder in SA.
