Hi well after sacking my first plasterer (in 3 months he could never give me a definite start date) I went with another and found out the first one was going to do an inferior job. The first intended to just drill the plaster sheets directly into the vermiculite and wouldn't bring up the sheets - to the 3rd floor of a unit. The second, however, charged $500 less and didn't bat an eyelid at bringing up the sheets. He has done a fabulous job, doing it all properly using the frame system and laser leveling it all. And it looks great - Im really happy with the end result.
The reason i mention the frame is because it means I was not limited with regards to the cornice width. I ended up chosing the Symphony edge because its 70mm rather than the wider 90mm of all the others. I got samples from CSR and held them up to the ceiling. While my favourite is still the concerto, it looked way too big in the smaller rooms of my unit - much better suited to house dimentions.
Anyway, the Sypmhony looks quite classical, still simple, but just bit more special than a standard cornice. When it was first put up, I thought it was too plain until they painted it and had the lighting put in. Then the shadows really stand out. All in all, very happy.
