Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 02, 2025 4:50 pm Hello everyone, I am 28M living in Gold Coast. I have never done an trades/construction work but I am really interested in starting. Mainly to learn the skills of building/construction. Prior to this I've mostly spent my time working casual jobs in other industries, an working for myself as a PT. My questions is this: I have a Mechanical Engineering Degree from USYD. I never worked as an engineer. I am wondering how this degree can help me in the apprenticeship process. I know I can get a Builder's license straight away because I have the MechE degree. I don't want to become a builder without hands on experience. How should I go about getting hands on experience? Which path offers the best opportunity in terms of pay, hours(preferably part time) and skills? Thank you A Re: Guidance on what paths are available 2May 09, 2025 3:13 pm Congrats on wanting to start a new trade! viewtopic.php?f=1&t=109996 There's a lot of help here in this thread of what to do to get started.
