Mine didnt care less, part of our house brick wall and front brick fence has cement and color on it. I did stencil in the front yard but there are about 6 to 12 white patches plus the yellow boarder color are fading. He came back twice to try and repair but unable to. Can I Pls have your concrete phone number, need to ask if he can come and repair. Thanks Hi zergling, Happy to pass it on... ...after I speak with him today! Just a small issue with run off. I have no doubt it will be fixed but just want to be sure! Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 47Nov 11, 2008 1:46 pm Paula Great pics Matt!! Very nice job, I'm impressed with the plastic. When we had our old driveway done (14 years ago) they didn't use plastic and splashed the bricks with the sealer Still there to this day. SAME!!! Our last house we had some work done and when the concrete was done the splash was everywhere... Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 48Nov 11, 2008 1:46 pm Michelle Your house is looking fantastic Matt! I have to say, the plastic is a nice touch, shame more of them don’t do it. Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 49Nov 11, 2008 1:47 pm Grace16 Are you going to let us know what the " Slight issue " may have been...all looks good from your pictures! donuts Hmm I missed the slight issue mention (was tucked away in there with bond breakers and diagrams which my non-technical eyes just glaze over) Tell us Matt! It is a run off issue... Some of the fall is not in the right direction. As I said above I am happy to share this guys details ... but I would like to see what the finished product is like. Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 50Nov 11, 2008 6:02 pm i have the same problem with the water fall from the side of the house. Water from the top falls into the drainage, the other end water doesnt flow into the drainage leaving a puddle. Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 51Nov 11, 2008 8:14 pm The concretor came back again today to finish off.
The (almost) finished product: All sealed and looking good! Now onto the issue... My concretor suggested with the hot weather yesterday and the expected hot weather today it may be a good idea to spray some water over the concrete just to cool it down. Upon doing this I noticed that the water near the garage rear door seemed to be pooling up a bit. When I went inside the garage I saw this: I sent an SMS to the concretor and within 30 mins he sent back an SMS to say no worries he would look tomorrow when he came around to seal it. ... When I got home from the office he was here sealing the concrete. He was a little dissapointed that the fall was not picked up yesterday and had already cut the concrete near the door to insert a new drain. This is where the concrete has been taken away: Basically he will fit in the black drain and create a fall away from the garage with just a small lip near the door with the fall towards the drain. The last issue he will now need to overcome with be attaching into the downpipe under the termite protection pit.. that'll be fun...NOT! Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 53Nov 11, 2008 9:32 pm Good to hear he fixed it all up with no problems Matt. Would be keen to get his details for a quote. Isn't it lucky it was hot weather, otherwise you might not have picked it up? Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 54Nov 12, 2008 8:39 am Paula Great tradesman!! He should be teaching etiquette in school After hours as we wouldnt want it to affect his concreting business Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 55Nov 12, 2008 8:42 am donuts Good to hear he fixed it all up with no problems Matt. And I think there is something in that for all of us! No matter what you get done, concrete, building works whatever. Make sure it works the way it is supposed to... Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 56Nov 12, 2008 9:08 am It looks really good Matt.
I think everyone on the forum wants his number now! Your concrete is a dark colour, did you pay for the colour or does just look dark because it's newly laid? thanks. I think everyone on the forum wants his number now! Your concrete is a dark colour, did you pay for the colour or does just look dark because it's newly laid? thanks. Hi Wonderland, Its a charcoal concrete with a charcoal sealer. Normally concrete does not look this dark (you were correct) and the coloured concrete is why! Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 58Nov 21, 2008 10:16 pm No sign of my concretor...
I fear he may be MIA... Stay tuned!! Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 59Nov 22, 2008 7:39 pm Hi Matt, I would love to get a similar job done by this guy so could you please give me his number...and I see you also have decking for your alfresco(i guessed) and it looks good too! Thanks. Re: Concreting the backyard...UPDATED 11/11/08 60Nov 22, 2008 8:35 pm Sacha,
At this stage (until the concrete is fixed) I will not be handing out his name to anyone! ..... As for the deck...that would be my own handiwork It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard.
